Really weird apartment building with terrible management staff, They have lost several of my packages and when asked they were rude. I highly recommend never living here, especially if you want an elevator that doesn’t smell like piss and vomit 80% of the time. The only redeeming part of this building is the repair guy who is super sweet. But yeah otherwise this place has lost like $150 in my packages and it just sucks.

Today I called to speak with Fatima, the person that originally emailed me concerning the availability of BMR units, however, someone named Marilyn answered the phone.
When she answered I asked to speak to Fatima and her response was “this is Marilyn.” Despite her snide commentary I proceeded to ask if there were any 3 bedrooms available. When I applied I was in need of a two bedroom, however, that is no longer the case. Her response was very persnickety and rushed and her tone was very belittling, stating “She put it in the email what is available, the studio and two bedroom.” This is not the type of treatment that a perspective renter like myself would want to endure when dealing with a leasing office.
Honestly, I hope no one else has to deal with this type of treatment either.

I’ve lived here for about 6 months and honestly I’m so grateful for the management team here. Mari, Angel and Fatima (I’m sorry if that’s misspelled) you guys rock! From quick fixes of being locked out and clicker problems to just having random pizza parties for the tenants. Seriously awesome job!

I've lived here for 2 years and sadly, it has gone downhill with new management. When I moved in, office staff Christina, Aliyah, Jezrel, and Melissa were so friendly and helpful with everything. They made me feel right at home. Ever since we got a new manager, Mari, everything has changed. The office hours are unpredictable. There are package thefts and they don't do anything about it. They switched the online platform and suddenly I'm receiving random fees. I have gone back and forth with Mari for months on the inaccurate fees based on being in a BMR unit, and she just stonewalls me and never escalates the issue to a supervisor. It's exhausting to have to fight their "pay or quit" threats every month when the fees are inaccurate and they don't provide any resolution.

Maintenance doesn't fix issues, and when they do it takes ages. They didn't apply our rent concessions. Office personnel are constantly rotating, and the new staff are not accommodating. They use a friendly tone to mask their inability to actually help residents. There are places in the Berkeley area that are cheaper and also better. There are little to no accomodations to residents moving in or out, despite it being obvious that street parking is difficult on this street. Rent is way too high for this level of poor service.

I lived her for 22 months because my partner was going to UC Berkeley. We had to rent something quick. This was the worst mistake ever. Terrible property management and maintenance of the property. Trash in the garage was a big problem and noise after hours almost every night was unbearable. Security patrol is non existent and if you called the security and emergency maintenance line, it was a joke. No one comes to your aid. The new manager Marilyn Lopez is incompetent and doesn’t know squat about tenant rights in California. Greystar and its subsidiaries are known to charge outrageous move out fees and not return deposits. Look it up all over social media. Overpriced and under run. I will be taking them to court and reporting to the BBB. RUN! Do not rent here or any Greystar property! You have been warned.

I’ve been a leaseholder of my unit in 1122U for two years. The main reason for living here one year after another is the leasing staff are so friendly and nice. I always tell my friends and peers that this apartment is so great, the leasing office is so helpful, and they should live here if possible. I’ve dealt with many things in my unit with the office, especially when new people are moving in and old residents are moving out. So, I know how it would work out since it’s not my first time dealing with it.

This week, I went to the leasing office as usual and wanted to solve the problem of a renewed lease. But a new officer told me to do different things from before, such as to provide a bank statement or other financial documents. I mentioned the roommate release form since she told me I was trying to remove the whole apartment. But she didn’t continue talking about anything about the roommate release form. I said I didn’t want to remove the whole apartment since two current residents will be staying for another year. I tried to communicate with her and said it was a different procedure than before, but the new officer said no, and she said she was an experienced staff member. I tried to tell her what was happening in my unit and the previous officer's procedures for dealing with my unit. But she all denied it.

So, on the second day, my roommate came to the office and tried to communicate with her, and I was listening. My roommate asked about the procedures for renewing the lease, and we got the answer, like what I tried to tell the new officer the previous day but was denied. She didn’t mention anything about the financial document but the roommate release form I mentioned before. In just one day, I was disappointed and angry about the leasing office. It didn’t save my time and energy. If we got the same answer as the new officer told me, I would be fine. But it didn’t. Everything she said was the same as what I said, but I got denied and refused.

We visited 1122U during our search for Berkeley housing. While we decided to go with a different housing option due to our own circumstances, we were really impressed by the amenity, staff and even residents there. We toured a couple of other Berkeley apartments, and 1122U exceeds all of them for the people: their super helpful manager who even responded during her camping trip during long weekend, and their tenants who happily sing their praises. Observing from their interaction with the management, everyone seems happy here! They also have a very functional rooftop, free bike storage, nice spacious garage, and of course, the 24/7 gym access. While it's not the most important thing for our considerations, the price is also more affordable comparing to the nearby apartment complexes with similar amenity, which is surprising considering how great it is! We will strongly recommend anyone looking for Berkeley apartments to check them out.
