Exit highway at Elna. No wildlife viewpoint signage on highway. Go east toward buildings. Follow brown viewpoint sign left up gravel road to top of mound parking. Beautiful views even without elk.

Google directions are wrong, you end up in a campsite 4 miles down the highway. 395S exit Elena. Turn left to cross the 395N. Dirt road with quick elevation, strongly suggest 4x4. Gusty winds and chilly. Beautiful viewpoint built by BSA. Binoculars are a must.

I was able to spot the wild elk from this location, have some binoculars as it's an overview of the lake and surroundings. It's a dirt road going upto a small hill. At the top is where the view point is at. Look for signs from the main road. One side is real steep going down go the same way back down enless you have a 4x4. Entrance is from E Elna

Don't know if it's cool or not. The Elena road everyone else says to use is gated off and says "closed to general public" as of Memorial Day weekend 2023. It might be washed out.
