Came for dinner with a friend, we had Nikki as our server and she was incredible. Nikki made some excellent suggestions and ensured we were happy with our food, and provided excellent service. The tuna tartare and salmon were delicious.

Scrumptious Steakhouse conveniently located approximately 100 yards from the Taconic State Parkway on/off exit at Bryant Pond Road. I have been here before for dinner and the food, service and ambiance was excellent. I decided to stop in for the Sunday Happy Hour at the bar and once again had a pleasant time. The bartender, Anthony greeted us upon arrival and served us delicious, discounted beverages and tapas as we sat at a table in the bar area. Awesome service, food and great time.

What a great place! The portion sizes were very big. I had the filet of sole, and my husband had the zupe di pesce. Both tasted amazing. Food came out quickly and beautifully plated. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. We will definitely be going back again.

Update:
Since its been a while from the original review. Came for dinner again. I had the dry aged NY strip and scallops. Both were very good. Steak was cooked exactly i asked. Drinks were good as well. It is still very loud though but Will be back again and would definitely recommend.

been here a quite a few times always for dinner. The food was very good. The drinks were good as well. The service was a little slow which the waiter apologized about. There is a bar separate from the dining room which a couple of tvs. My only real negative is that it is way too loud in there. You have to almost yell just to the person across the table. Picture a room full of people doing that you will get the idea. Need to fix the acoustics in there

The Char Steakhouse & Bar is an amazing upscale and great quality steakhouse house chain restaurant that offers guests superbly made steak and seafood cuisine in a warm and cozy setting.

In November of 2023, I brought and treated my wife and myself for dinner at the Char Steakhouse & Bar, specifically the branch based in Mahopac, NY, and we had a wonderful dining experience!!!

We were kindly welcomed and warmly treated by the restaurant’s staff and we were provided with the best table in the restaurant, one closely located to the fireplace. Our server, Nikki H treated us with impeccable customer service by providing us with a detailed overview of the menu options and specials and carefully noting our meal selections. She also routinely checked with us to see if we were enjoying our meals. We give a huge two thumbs up to the service provided by Nikki H.

In addition to enjoying our service, both my wife and I absolutely loved our meals and found that it was perfect cooked, seasoned and unbelievably tasty and delicious!!! My wife ordered and enjoyed her steak based entree while I ordered and loved my burger based entree. It was unquestionably one of the best meals we’ve ever had!!!

My wife and I highly recommend for everyone to visit and dine at Char Steakhouse!!! We are confident that you’ll have a great dining experience!!!

We came in on Valentines Day, which is extremely busy of course. However, I did not force Char to take all the reservations that they did, and in my opinion traffic should never come before cleanliness or the guest experience. During our meal, both were compromised due to how busy the staff were. We got our table 30 minutes after our reservation time. When we got to our table, the utensils etc were not on the table, and were instead on my chair. Including my glasses, which were face down on the chair. The waitstaff were shocked I asked for new glasses as those were unclean. It took 20 minutes to get our drinks, and my strawberry mojito was 90% lime juice and disgusting. It took about 40 minutes after that to get our entrees, which were lukewarm. We did not see our waiter for over 20 minutes. I understand a busy night especially on a holiday. However, like I said previously, we should not have our experience or cleanliness compromised because Char overbooked.

We had just spent 3 days in New York City. We were about an hour outside of NYC, driving back to Montreal and since we hadn’t eaten all day, we figured we’d stop somewhere to eat. We expected to find only fast food on the road.

I saw signage for Fuel and Food on the TSP. To our disappointment, there was only a gas station with a Deli inside the gas station.

We decided to return on the TSP and try another exit further down the road. Then my wife saw a billboard advertising a steakhouse. I thought it was an ad because I couldn’t see a steakhouse establishment from the road. It was dark outside. I drove down the little road there and to my surprise, we found a steakhouse hidden from view.

Well, the service and food were great (great desserts) except for our Porterhouses.

My wife had the 20oz rib steak and she was happy with it. Had no complaints.

My son and I had the 28oz Porterhouse

They have 2 sizes of Porterhouses. 28oz for $61 and 40oz for $145.

I assumed the 40oz is dry aged due to the extra cost (don’t remember)

I asked the waiter which he recommends, 28oz porterhouse $61 or 30oz Rib Steak $62. He recommended the Porterhouse.

We ordered all our meats Medium Rare and they came to the table Medium Rare as asked.

Well, that was the worst Porterhouse I had in my life. Was very hard to cut and chewy even cooked Medium Rare. Found that so strange. I assumed because it’s not dry aged or it’s a cheap quality.

I still ate it, with lots of salt added. I guess I should have ordered a Rib Steak.

Decent, standard steak house experience. The petite filet was cooked well and tasted great. The Mac and cheese was a bit saucy and the veggies medley was fresh. I would say the price is a bit high for the quality but not crazy.
