I met Caroline Fuller during what has to have been the worst time to buy a house in recent memory. COVID had driven the market for semirural houses - like the ones I was shopping for in Sebastopol - totally insane. Sellers were changing their minds and staying put or holding out for far more money than homes were actually worth; buyers were climbing over each other to bid up the prices on anything that would give them some breathing room. Through it all, Caroline kept beating the bushes and finding me things to look at in my price range, often getting me in through her connections for early looks and helping me put together preemptive offers on places that suited my esoteric list of needs. Through her astute help I succeeded in winning multiple bids and landed in escrow several times - before I finally settled on the house I really wanted, that I felt was really worth the price I had to pay. Despite several false starts, and months of effort, she never got frustrated with me, and often went far out of her way to alert me to anything even remotely promising. Most importantly, she has a wealth of local knowledge: she knows the people, the neighborhoods, many of the individual properties, the real local values, and the other agents; She knows where wells have water and where they don't (and who to talk to be sure), where the sun shines in the winter, and what to look out for in whacky rural properties and their off-the-books additions. More than once, she saved me from stumbling into costly mistakes that I would be paying off for many years to come. Shopping with her wasn't only fun, it was an education. I will unhesitatingly recommend Caroline to any of my friends who are shopping in the area. And it ever comes time to sell my home, she is the first person I'll call!
