We contacted Julie Whitmer in late August 2020 to discuss putting our home on the market in January or February. We needed guidance in how best to prepare our house. In that initial meeting, Julie explained the current market conditions and recommended we consider preparing our home for market as soon as possible. The market was heating up, mortgage financing was optimal and there was a very low housing inventory. We were hesitate based on the short time frame to get the house market ready. But we agreed based on her assurance that we could get this done together.
To get the house in top condition, Julie recommended we do several things but with the principle of spending money to get the most favorable return. She did a total property evaluation and made recommendations to maximize buyer appeal. For example, we repainted the house inside and out, updated light fixtures inside and out, and many other things to update our home. We had a large beautiful lot, but it needed work. She reimagined the backyard within minutes of first seeing it and her vision, when executed, substantially improved its appeal. To get all this work done Julie has a cadre of reasonably priced contractors with whom she has worked with for years. They were all very experienced and provided us with quality service. From painters to plumbers to landscapers to electricians to tree trimmers to furniture movers, when all was done, we believe we maximized our spending.
From a marketing perspective, our house hit the market with lots of excitement brewing and offers forming. Once the house went live, there were so many showings over just two days and multiple offers. Wow, what a whirlwind! Julie handled the long days, many behind the scenes activities, just everything so professionally. She negotiated an amazing contract that was above our initial expectations and the highest sale reported in our community.
