Working with Hal has been amazing! My wife and I were referred to him through a close friend. We started chatting with Hal in March of 2021 about potential houses (we closed in Sept 2021) and he was incredibly great at communicating with us as to what we were looking for. Since we were going to use him as our mortgage broker also, he was very clear as to what his process was and what documents he needed from us. With us as first time buyers, he was extremely patient with us. We had so many questions and he took the time to answer all of them.
Most agents want you to buy higher to get a bigger commission but they can be really pushy about it. I have never felt that way about Hal. I feel like Hal really looked after us during the whole process and had our best interests at heart. We had a lower budget to work with but Hal worked with that and never pressured us to look outside our comfort zone.
He’s also extremely knowledgeable about the East Bay and Tri-valley area (I’m sure he knows hella more areas but we were looking in the East Bay). My wife and I always appreciated his opinions on listings that we saw. Every time we saw something we liked and let him know, he was always incredibly quick to get us disclosures and more details.
Hal’s ability to negotiate is amazing. For the house we bought, we ended up getting it under list and I credit that to Hal’s negotiation skill.

We were blessed to work with Hal Light from Light Realty, Inc. as our real estate broker. As first time home buyers, we needed to work with someone we trust wholeheartedly. To not only help facilitate a deal but to essentially hold our hands through the entire process and Hal did just that. We decided to start looking for a home during a pandemic, but with COVID-19 restrictions, there were no more ‘Open Homes’ to freely walk into. Every house we were remotely interested in required an agent to make an appointment and accompany us through the tour. Hal was on top of it! He got us in to look at homes as soon as possible, working around our schedule, and he took the initiative in calling agents on homes that haven’t even hit the market yet to see if we can get an early viewing. Although Hal was working with multiple clients, we always felt like we had his attention and was his top priority. He always made himself available to answer all of our questions no matter what time of day/night and helped to provide additional information to questions we didn’t even know to ask. His knowledge of the area is truly invaluable and his kind and genuine nature has established amazing relationships amongst other agents. He truly went above and beyond to outline and schedule out the entire home purchasing process that we never felt rushed and it made the experience as stress-free as I imagine it could be. We were able to purchase our first home within three months of working with Hal with ZERO issues. Even after the keys were handed over, Hal continues to check-in to ensure that everything is living up to expectations. Hal is by far one of the most hard working individuals I have met and someone you absolutely want to have as both a realtor and/or mortgage broker.

Hal was there in helping both my wife and myself help purchase our first house and has already helped us refinance twice! In fact, he will probably be helping us with another refi soon. Working with Hal has been amazing. We found Hal because of his reviews as a mortgage broker and then decided to use him as a realtor too. Using Hal as a realtor and mortgage broker will reduce the stress of buying a home tremendously. He is very easy to work with, transparent, understanding of your needs and quick to reply. He is not pushy and if he thinks a house is not a good fit for you, he will raise his concerns. Once under contract he will get you locked into a rate and if he sees that rates change he will get you locked into a lower rate.

Hal was awesome!
