Working with Rene from West Coast Building and Design has been a great experience. For me, good communication is key when dealing with contractors, and Rene totally nailed it. Whenever I reached out to him, whether by phone or text, he was super quick to respond. And even if he couldn't get back to me right away, he always made sure to follow up ASAP.

Rene took charge of building an ADU above my garage, and I couldn't be happier with the result. The quality of his work is top-notch, and it's clear he takes real pride in what he does. Plus, his pricing was fair and upfront, which I really appreciated.

Looking back, my only regret is not getting Rene involved in the design process too. I bet he could've saved me a bundle! Lesson learned for next time.

Great contractor to work with! Rene built a terrific house for me. It sold in less than 24 hours for 50k above asking price. He is not just a skilled builder but a really nice guy. He also contracts for a fixed price which includes an in house architecht and interior decorator. Moreover, he eats any cost overruns.

I hired West Coast Building and Design to build a multi-generation complex for my family.  This review is part 1 of 3 projects.  The first project was for a 1200 square ft ADU where I would live.  When we first started the ADU the projection for completion was 6 months.  Unfortunately, we were just at the tail end of the pandemic and there were many delays from the city, SDG&E, supply chain issues and an unusually very rainy season. I’m grateful to have had Rene as the builder because he found ways to work around some of these issues.  He listened to what I wanted – even if it meant changing and redoing a few things.  I am now living in my beautiful home.  I look forward to Rene starting on the next project: converting a garage into my disabled son’s sensory/OT room.

Rene dealt with the city and SDGE through the complex permitting process as our project required over 150ft of trenching and navigating a maze of state and local regulations. My husband & I discussed building an ADU to our existing property. We came across another property in our neighborhood who were doing the same type of project. We inquired at that residence and found WestCoast Builders and Design was building their project. We spoke with Rene Rivera, owner of WestCoast Builders and Design, and allowed us to walk through the project he was currently in the process of completing. We were happy with the layout and asked him to come by to give us a quote. Satisfied with his quote, we decided on moving forward with WestCoast. We broke ground in late March and Rene gave us a completion date of late September/early October timeframe. During the construction, Rene kept us informed of the entire process which included any delays of our project. He answered all of our questions and concerns in a timely manner. Before we knew it, the ADU was completed ahead of schedule and within our budget. Rene was flexible to make some additions per our request which did not delay the project. We would recommend Rene and WestCoast Builders to anyone looking to add an ADU to their property.
