I strongly recommend looking anywhere but with these slumlords. The place I rented was not only falling apart, it was FILTHY when I arrived. Grease from floor to ceiling in the kitchen, boot prints in the bathtub (?), dirt in the sinks, wood floors almost black. They insisted it was cleaned before my move in date and I told them they should get the money back. I cleaned myself. Too many horror stories during my one/year tenancy to cover here, one highlight was a sewage pipe exploding in the kitchen, for which I was given sh!t about even though it was due to a blockage to the street drainage (probably bc of all the grease poured down the pipes by the previous tenant). Then they dragged feet on returning my security deposit even though it was assuredly in far better condition than I found it (couldn’t clean away all the broken stuff they refused to fix the entire time I was there!) it was late being returned and according to state law, i should have sued for double. Scam company. I’d been quite lucky with landlords until this company so their general suckage was a learning experience. I would give a negative review if I could.

Definitely will not recommend this place to anyone. First of all, they did not do inspection before new tenant move-in. The hot water had odor, the kitchen sink was jammed, garbage disposal was not working and worst of all, the entire unit had FLEA! Second, do not expect them to fix things for you after you tell them do not plan to renew the lease. They will leave broken things unfixed until you move out, including the lock! I have reported my dryer issue since I moved in, and it was still unfixed two years after! Third, they will try to keep ALL your security deposit. They will not tell you when will get your money back or even ask for your forwarding address. When I asked why they charged me $250 painting for a nail hole repaint, the property manager just played dumb and kept showing pictures saying bathroom mirror and kitchen sink needs cleaning! Last but not least, terrible customer service. When you have any issues need to be fixed or inquiry about your security deposit, do not expect them to get back to you. The front desk was rude too and she acted like you are inconveniencing her by delivering the rent.

I hope people see this review and take it as a thank you to keeping them from dealing with such rude realtors!! I would highly recommend using Blukey realty in Troy, AL! I lived in one of their homes before landmark. Super helpful and all around great people!

Here’s why I suggest any other realtors besides landmark. When I was shown the house (as a possible buyer) I was treated very nicely. Told I would just simply have to notify them for any of my rental concerns and it would be fixed. Even something as small as a light bulb. Once I moved in all of that changed. First off I was supposed to move in July 1st. The current tenants were not packed up. So instead of forcing them to move out, considering I had already signed my lease. I was told I would not be able to move in for another month. When I moved in, the house was a disgusting wreck! The tenants that moved out left about half of their things there, there were dead bugs and huge clumps of dog hair everywhere. I had to beg for a cleaning crew to come to the house. Which was one older woman that came for about 3 hours. (This house had 3 stories and was extremely filthy top to bottom). Basically all she did was sweep. Would call and text several times and get no response from my realtor, EARL ELLIS. Any time there was a maintenance issue I would get told “they’d check into it.” Which meant I would see someone come by the house in about 2 months to see if things were still broken!! Sometimes you would never see someone come at all. Didn’t receive my deposit back because I finished painting the HALF painted cabinets when I moved in. I not only painted the cabinets, I, myself, bought the paint AND brand new handles and knobs for all of the cabinets and drawers. I made the kitchen look 10x better than it looked. Yet $450 was taken from me for helping them out. Needless to say landmark Is TERRIBLE!!! DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!

I'm not sure what kind of hell-on-earth the other reviewer experienced, but I've had a great experience here.
The apartment I rented wasn't in great shape, but you do get what you pay for.
Anytime there was a problem (be it a leak or a faulty circuit) my realtor was quick to respond. And had someone out to repair it within 3-5 business days, and the next morning if it was an emergency.
I am moving out of my current residence, but will definitely rent from Landmark again.

I give a single star for a simple reason. Once it was clear that we would no longer be tenants the quality of support we received plummeted. The receptionist became curt and borderline rude to me and straight-up rude to my wife. Any request for information was ignored, especially from my wife until I got involved. There was also insane discrepancies in the return on deposit. It was not good quality when my wife moved in (and this was her first apartment so they didn't explain how to properly do a move in inspection with her), and we left it better than we found it... and they still nickel and dimed us out of our security deposit.

Landmark Realty is a great real estate agency. We rent through them and have for the last 5 years. Whenever we have any issues (where things need to be fixed) they send someone over within hours....they are great!

I literally just called about finding a cheap, pet friendly, reasonably priced place to live and the woman I talked to responded IMMEDIATELY with "We don't," in a very rude tone. She didn't even take the time to look and see if they really did have anything available or not. What awful service.
