Management was very unresponsive. The day I moved in I didn’t have the correct keypad to the door so I was locked out of the house and I called Abacus and left a voicemail, I never heard back from them. After moving out two years later I tried to contact them multiple times about the cleaning fee from my security deposit through phone calls and e-mails and I still haven’t heard back after three months.

I've been meaning to write this review for a while, but if you don't make it past the fist sentence, I advise NOT to rent any property from this company.

I lived in one property managed by Abacus for two years. At first contacting the property manager was easy and my roommates and I would recieve our bills every month, however, this changed very quickly. As time went on, it became more difficult to recieve timely responses from their employees. Furthermore, over time it seemed that we began recieving our bills inconsistenly, sometimes every other month on random dates. I am also pretty sure that we were being charged for the utilites of the unit beneath us after moving into my new place. Our bills were VERY expensive compared to what I pay now and I still live in SF.

Of the two years I lived at this property, a year and half was during the beginning of COVID. During the 18 months of being here during COVID not once did my roomates or I ask for a rent reduction, even after one of my roommates had their hours cut at work. Trying to understand how this situation affectted everyone, we paid our rent and utilites on time every month during this period of COVID. When we decided to move out, my roommates and I were hopeful that we would recieve our full deposit because of not asking for a rent reduction. Of the time we lived at this property during COVID, getting our full deposit back would have been a fraction of what 18 months of reduced rent would have been. Even after reaching out and explaining ourselves, we were told NO it a very unprofessional email.

After hoping for a little human decency, its clear that this building management company only cared about keeping the money flowing in and not the their tenanants during the onset of the pandemic. Unfortunately, this company has a lot to work on as far a good business practices go. Some employees would also benefit from a class on how to exchange emails with clients politely and professionally.

Wish I had better things to say, but again, try NOT to rent any property managed by Abacus.
