Adrea Brabson was my agent & John Finn my broker. They put their needs, and financial goals before the best interest of their client. As a first time home buyer, this was a nightmare I never could’ve imagined.
I initially had buyers remorse for the home that I was under contract for many reasons. I asked Adrea on two different times, once after we initially found out the home had title issues, what my options were. As a first time home buyer this was all new to me and I was looking to her for support & clarification. Both times she alluded that her brokerage would sue me if I didn’t purchase the home. Multiple different sources, including another broker at her agency, confirmed to me that this was an inappropriate response from an agent working for her client’s best interest.
After I expressed to the other broker that I no longer felt comfortable dealing with Adrea, John took over the transaction. The nightmare became worse. He & Adea collectively attempted to strong arm me into purchasing this home that had a faulty title by threatening legal action, and teaming up with the seller’s agent to go against my best interest. The seller’s agent even confirmed to me that they were pushing to make the sell go through so that Adrea could get paid.
Although I was in contract with them to represent ME in this transaction, I had no one on my side while navigating this issue. Even though the seller could not produce a clear title, Mr. Finn threatened that if I didn’t purchase this home, his brokerage, the seller’s side, and the title company would all seek financial damages. He even went as far as to undermine my lender for denying the funds, and accuse me of fraud when I decided I no longer wanted to go into the home inadequately insured.
This all caused me extreme emotional distress. Luckily, after seeking legal counsel, I was able to represent myself in terminating the contract. The contract clearly stated that the seller had 30 days from the time the title issue began to fix it, & we were well past that timeframe. I am sure Adrea & John both knew what the contract said as it came from their agency, but they did not bring that to my attention as their focus was what they wanted, & that was money.
Thankfully I have since cut all ties with United. I am thankful this worked out in my favor, but I would hate to know how many other people they have baselessly threatened & taken advantage of. I would not recommend that anyone use this agency. They certainly put profit before people. I ended up in a situation where it was my needs vs them getting paid and they did almost anything to ensure they got paid.
