I have been a tenant for nearly 6 years & our experience with CCI has been amazing. By far the best rental experience we have had. Sandra & Josh are understanding & prompt to resolve issues. Max the repair man is knowledgeable and very nice. Though we live in an old house that inevitably needs occasional repair, we are happy with the response and outcome overall. Though we don’t plan on moving anytime soon, I would definitely rent from CCI again in the future.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. After moving out and waiting the usual 45 days to get my deposit back, I received NOTHING from them. At first i thought "okay maybe next week they'll mail me my check back, they're probably just really busy". Fast forward 4 more weeks and several many phone calls later and STILL NOTHING. Even after leaving a message and being promised to be called back they never reach back. Eventually i was notified by my roommate that they sent out the check to him. Which is absurd because we had two separate leases. So from there i had another problem. It shouldn't be all like this tho, that is extremely unprofessional. You know if we were late on our rent, i can guarantee you they would be on our ass trying to get their money. But apparently they can make excuses for themselves...

Multiple times they told us our rent was short and then when we all checked our bank statements and got back to them telling them they had been paid in full, they said "oh yea, ok". That happened MULTIPLE TIMES. Were they trying to scam extra?
Good luck getting your deposit back, Sandra, the owner does NOT RETURN phone calls. They'll take your number but she does not call you back. Two months after moving out, I'm looking into attorneys to get our deposit back.

I rented a house from these people for a year and by all standards I was a good tenant, and the house was left in fine condition at the end of my lease. Virginia law states that a landlord can withhold a security deposit for up to 45 days after the termination of a lease, when I called to inquire as to the whereabouts of my security deposit after the 45 day period had ended, nobody I spoke to on the phone could give me any information about the money owed to me. I was told almost every day that I called that Sandra (the owner?) would return my call. I never received a call back, though I called repeatedly. This pattern of calling and being disregarded continued for a couple weeks, now well past the 45 day period. When I expressed my frustration to an employee named Josh he scolded me, and told me that Sandra was very busy running two businesses and didn't have time to return phone calls. If Sandra is finding it difficult to perform her duties and adhere to obligations it may be time for her to reconsider what she is doing with her life. It certainly isn't my problem that Sandra for whatever reason can't deal with the pressures running her business. Ultimately I threatened legal action and was issued a check the same day. Thanks guys, and hang in there Sandra.

This company is absolutely atrocious. We have extensive water damage in the house and they simply deny, lie, gaslight you. They claimed mold (from a collapsing ceiling) was from our cat.
Their maintenance man threatened us in our home after we told him he had cut himself and was bleeding all over our things. He also told us our repairs don’t get done because we are difficult to work with.

Our roof has been leaking for almost a year and they claim it’s fixed. Our microwave was broken for a year. The wooden floors in our living room are buckled from water damage, and are so buckled that the heat/air vent in the floor is popping up. Their “fix” for this was to hammer the boards back in place.

There is mold and rotting wood in the bathroom. We were told the wood isn’t rotting because it’s dry (?). The maintenance man, in anger, started hammering the mold and ripped that portion of the wood off, which means spores were sent into the air.

Our property is falling apart but they will give you the run around, apologize and say they understand, or blame the owner of the house. The gaslighting is atrocious. They don’t actually do anything but collect money. I truly don’t know how they can sleep at night knowing they are exploiting people and literally breaking the law by not making sure that tenants have a decent and safe place to live.

CCI will tell you that all applications are processed on a first-come-first-served basis. They will also assure you that no application will be denied based on pet ownership, if the property permits pets. However, they will actually spend weeks collecting "dozens" of applications (and "refundable" fees) for the same property, before turning them over to the property owner, who may very well select another applicant based on their lack of pets.

They will not process your application in a timely manner, as promised. They will not refund a refundable application fee. They will lie and laugh in your face. CCI should be embarrassed of their representative's extreme lack of integrity and customer service, which undoubtedly continues throughout a tenancy.

If you are in a desperate spot and your only option is a property managed by CCI, be sure to film every interaction and record every call (with permission). Maybe they'll have a more difficult time blowing off applicants, who have based their very real lives around the lies shoveled out by their agents, especially Josh Sturgill.

These people will run you into the ground. They would not evict the tenants even though I begged them to. They had two properties for me and it was the worst management that I have ever seen. They finally got the first tenant out (after being turned away twice by the judge for writing to the wrong address) and I am out almost $4000.00. The other tenant left with a balance of about $1900.00. Of course, the hardest thing is to recoup this money. I would have to go sit outside the office to get any kind of answers because Sandra would not return my calls. I actually could not believe that they are running a business like that. The male office manager, Michael is clueless and quite frankly, dumb. Every month I would have to query the statements that they send. For instance, I would be owed $1625.00 but the statement would say $1075.00 (or something like that) I sometimes wonder if this was deliberate and that they were just dishonest. I wish I could sue them for all the monies that I am out. Unfortunately, the contract that they have you sign makes to immune to every impropriety that they may levy against you. God Bless them!

Commonwealth Capital Investments is amazing! I’m currently on my second year renting with them and i’m so thankful to be able to keep the same great rental company. They are so helpful, responsive, nice, and welcoming. Their maintenance crew is so great, quick, and good at what they do. Sandra, Josh, and their crew are wonderful.
