The best people to rent from. I’ve dealt with my fair share of nightmare landlords living in Richmond over the years, and Neville and his team are a cut above the rest. Whenever I had a maitenance issue, it was addressed immediately and nothing was ever swept under the rug. They were always kind, courteous and helpful. It was a pleasure being a tenant in one of their properties. The apartment I had was beautiful, in a great location, with updated appliances and the best water pressure in the shower! Truly the best living experience I’ve ever had. Zero complaints over 3 years. Thank you Neville and co! You guys are awesome.

Very unprofessional.
At move in another tenant’s items were still in my bedroom, parts of the wall and floor were missing and it was generally disgusting
so you could say they’re not thorough with their properties between tenants. During the two years I was there, I only had two maintenance requests satisfactorily completed, the rest were ignored. I’ve overheard racist/classist banter in their office, so don’t expect respect. They gave use of my driveway to multiple construction crews that were not working on my property. They encouraged graffiti by never removing any to begin with. The electrical system sucked and it was very easy to blow a fuse. They never gave notice of anything - like opening the door to see they took off the front porch. They’ll promise your security deposit and then withhold it without legitimate reason.

Slumlord: “an absentee landlord with more than one property, who attempts to maximize profit by minimizing spending on property maintenance, and to tenants that they can intimidate. Severe housing shortages allow slumlords to charge higher rents, and when they can get away with it, to break rental laws.”

I met Neville Johnson in 2007 after deciding to explore using professional property management instead of doing that myself. After meeting Neville, I signed up. It turned out to be a great decision. My properties have been consistently rented since that time and I have found that my repair costs and vacancies have both dropped. It was a pleasant surprise to learn that the fee for management was really paying for itself. As an owner I have found Neville and his staff - Treena and Gwen to be great to work with and easily reachable.

Neville also served as my realtor as I bought rehab properties. His advice and knowledge were incredibly valuable in making repair estimates and deciding what to buy and what to leave alone. If you are looking to do rehabs or flips, it is hard to imagine a more knowledgeable advisor. For buying, selling or renting Neville and his team are great to work with as well.

My husband and I had the pleasure of living in one of their apartments for close to 6 years, and the only reason we moved was because we bought a house. Through our time here, we have communicated with Gwen, Treena, Neville, and the owner. All interactions have been pleasant and warm. The apartment itself was clean, safe and very cozy. Any maintenance request we've had was handled as quickly as needed, and they've always respected our space/schedule when it came time to have workers enter our home. Knowing and hearing what others have gone through with their own rental company in this city, we feel very fortunate that we found NCJ and this apartment. They are all so kind and responsive and we would recommend them to anyone looking.

Just had an amazing experience with this company this week. My daughter is a college student and upon moving into an apartment with another company, we quickly realized it was completely unlivable was a hazard to her health. We had to get all her stuff and her out of there immediately but she had no where to go. We had 24 hours to find her a new place weeks before classes started in a busy college city. As a mother who lives 2 hours away, I was in a panic on what to do. She and I started searching frantically online and happened upon a listing by NCJ under an agent named Treena Graham. I called and Ms. Graham picked right up and was so understanding and kind about our situation. She had plans to not show apartments that day and to just work at her office but she immediately said she'd meet us at our convenience because our situation sounded so desperate. She showed us an apartment available that day and hours later, we were signing a lease. We had the pleasure of meeting the front desk employee as well as the president of the company. They knew I hadn't slept at all and that my husband had raced up after leaving work early and that my daughter was stressed--they welcomed us to coffee and their conference room to relax and regroup. The apartment they offered was clean, well kept and perfect for our daughter. Their kindness, compassion, professionalism, and swiftness meant more than we could express. We are excited our daughter is renting from this company and will be forever grateful that they were our saving grace in what had been a horrible situation. Thank you! Thank you!

Mike Alexander gave me a tour of one of his units this afternoon and it was an amazing experience. He had prompt and fair answers to every question I had, hastily met with me on the same day without hesitation, and represented NCJ in a professional and respectful manner.
