I wanted to live close enough to the city without being too close, and the location is perfect. The area is quiet, yet everything I need is just a short drive away. Aaron and Alexander in the leasing office were amazing! They were so helpful during my tour, answering all my questions (and I had a LOT) with a smile. They really went above and beyond to make sure I felt taken care of. I also have to mention how much I love the clubhouse area – it’s the cleanest, most well-maintained shared space I’ve seen at any apartment complex. Overall, I’m really impressed with Hydro Apartments and the incredible team here!

Overall I'm happy with living at Hydro so far (2 weeks). The property is very well maintained and pleasant, apartment finishes are modern and tasteful, and management is effective and friendly. It is surprisingly quiet since it is set back from the main road, and my floor plan feels thoughtfully spacious enough to accommodate remote work. I love that it is close to downtown and the river, with relatively easy access to public transit on Hull Street as well as the growing old town Manchester neighborhood. I took off one star because unfortunately guest/street parking is extremely limited, and I wish they would discontinue the unnecessary trash valet service. I would still recommend it overall, and I hope as the community gets leased out that management can address these concerns.

Currently living here because we wanted to live close to the city. It's a perfect distance from all the areas downtown and Shockoe Bottom, while also being close to Manchester and a couple different breweries. So far, we've loved our time here, and couldn't be happier. Beautiful sunsets over Manchester on one side of the building and views of downtown on the other.

The leasing office is awesome (shoutout to Riley and Aaron), as well as Todd and Aaron from maintenance all of whom go out of their way to make you feel special. Couldn't recommend this place more.

Absolutely loved these beautiful apartments. It’s very quiet and peaceful, all the amenities you could need, very modern, pet friendly, everyone is kind and it’s just a short drive to the city. Thank you Joseph for being sweet enough to show me around this lovely property!

I highly recommend considering the Hydro Apartments in Manchester. I signed a one-year lease and am genuinely disappointed to be leaving due to opportunities outside of Richmond. During my tour of the property, Riley was extremely genuine and responsive to all my inquiries. I have also found Aaron and Alex to be among the most effective property managers I’ve encountered across my various leasing experiences in Richmond and other cities. Their prompt responses through the apartment texting communication system have been particularly beneficial for tenants needing timely assistance—an unparalleled feature compared to my previous housing experiences. Additionally, the complex hosts multiple events each month to foster interaction between residents and staff along with food trucks onsite almost weekly. The management team is transparent about any issues that may arise, and the maintenance staff is quick to address concerns as they come up. One last major benefit is that the property maintains a high standard of cleanliness, with the cleaning staff present on a near-daily basis. I have not encountered any issues with unwanted pests, and the apartment was exceptionally clean upon my arrival.

Overall, I cannot recommend this apartment complex highly enough!

They tried to charge me $1000.00 for maintenance fees after I left, which turned out to be charges combined from THREE different apartments! I literally just had some wall damage from wallpaper sticker removal which was under 50 in repair costs. Some dude also tried to kick our door in, so be careful when considering the location.

Great location: Close proximity to walking trails, downtown, etc.
Luxury Living: Nice luxury features and amenities
Affordable: Great price for the features and location
Great Staff: All of the staff are super helpful and polite
Maintenance: Very prompt and friendly Aaron and Brad the painter were amazing.

Points to consider:
- No specific guest or visitor parking (AT ALL)
- Hydro Resident Parking is $100 a month on top on rent (Not Included)
- Not a ton of restaurants in walking distance other than pizza and chipotle.

This is one of the best run properties I have lived in. Things are typically clean and in working order in the common areas, and if you have a maintenance request they fix it either same day or the next day. Central AC blows ice cold, both grills work, the pool is always clean, and the EV chargers always work. Pretty friendly people here and sense of community in the building as well. You get a sense that the management really cares about making this a place people enjoy living. Overall a great place to live and appreciate the people working here.
