2503 6th Avenue Unit #2. The worst living situation in my life.

We recently moved out of this unit, and it was hands down the worst living situation I have ever experienced. The man who owns the home lives above you and within the year we lived here we had to make over a dozen complaints about excessive and disruptive noises he makes in the middle of the night/early morning. And when I say noise, I mean he is upstairs running power tools, vacuuming, dragging stuff across the floor, using a hammer, or playing one of his multiple instruments through his PA System anywhere from midnight to 5am.

Initially, I tried working it out with the owner and let him know he was being disruptive to me and my brothers' sleep...nothing changed. Then I started making complaints to Century 21. I believe they tried to get through to the owner and his mother, but still nothing changed. Finally, I had to go as far as calling LPD out to speak with him about the noise 2 times in one night. After that, it seemed to quiet down, but at this point we had already signed a new lease and were on our way out.

Once we got out, I was just going to wipe my hands and be done with this situation, but after seeing Century 21 re-listed the unit, increased the price I was paying by $200/month and made no mention of the loud, disruptive, and discourteous owner who will be living above you. I feel an obligation to warn whoever may be considering this as their next rental property.

If having a quiet and peaceful living space is important to you, this is not going to be a good fit. If you are desperate enough to give this rental a shot, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND having Century 21 add an exit clause to your lease or something that allows you, in the event of noise or any other issues with the upstairs neighbor, to leave the unit with no strings attached. It is not fair that you should be locked into a lease, especially when you haven't been given a full disclosure of the living situation or past issues that tenants dealt with. When the listing says this will be a "peaceful living space" and that it's in a "quiet neighborhood", this is disingenuous. My experience was not peaceful, my experience was not quiet. I've been renting for over 13 years and lived in at least 5 different rentals. I've had upstairs neighbors before and the level of noise this man makes is unacceptable. The time of day he chooses to make noise and work on his projects is unacceptable, and it is not respectful to the tenants who live below him.

If I'm being 100% honest, the noise wasn't even the only issue we had with the owner, but it was the deal-breaker for sure. I'm a good neighbor and willing to help people out when they need it (which the owner did multiple times) but my mental health was deteriorating rapidly due to continually being woken up by this guy and, as far as I'm concerned, there was no attempt made by him to rectify the situation. He kept living his life how he wanted without any regard for the people living below him; end of story.

We were very impressed with the knowledge, honesty, friendliness, good character and professionalism of our agent, Troy, at Century 21. I got the feeling I would've been treated the same whether I drove a Pinto or a Porche. Which says a lot about ones character. Its also nice to have a trustworthy agent when its your first time buying a house. From spotting costly problems in a house all the way to helping you go through and sign contracts.

Sandy DuFrane was very unprofessional over the phone. When presenting information that confirmed a pre-approval and asking to see a house, she laughed at the situation and said it was impossible and hung up. We were prepared for an explanation or ready for her to setup a later date, but not what we got!

Out of all the rental agencies and landlords I've worked with, this team was the most respectful and responsive when it came to requests and communication. Rules were very clear and not hard to follow. I would definitely recommend renting or working with this company.

Our realtor agent was unprepared and did only the bare minimum.
She was not even able to print the maps for us prior to, she did not do any research for us either, and everything seemed like a bother to her after we traveled specifically to look at the properties.

Only reason we stayed with her was because it would take weeks to switch to a different agent.
