The permitting process in an emergency situation is absolutely terrible. The permit sits idle for weeks, then gets voided with no explanation. I try calling, the reviewer's voicemail is full. I call the main office, leave a message. I email, no response for days. This is unacceptable and unprofessional. The only people that win are the companies that are doing unpermitted work.

Pierce County is dialed in on permits and processes. They have some of the fastest review times in the GMA.

Dealing with the insane State regulations they are beholden to, they truly do a great job of navigating those challenging waters, while still delivering a common sense approach and quality customer service.

Without Pierce County's leadership there would be even more stress on the affordability of housing. If only all of the other Counties and Cities were as well organized.

Give them a break folks, PALS is doing their very best!

Reconsider building a house in Pierce County. We've been trying for two YEARS to break ground. These people are not held accountable and are slow and lazy. Each department is incapable of communicating with the other. They take for ever to answer emails. And they routinely contradict each other which all costs us time and money. This is a perfect example of big government with people that could not hold a job in the private sector.

I am being my own General Contractor, at the age of 75, for the constriction of our new single family home. My experiances with the Pierce County Planning and Land Srevices department have been, for the most part, very good. Most of the personnel are knowledgeable, helpful and oh so kind. I am comfortable and excited while on this journey.

They have no idea what their doing. Unelected officials telling you what you cant do on your property. Different answer every-time. Make you spend thousands on services to try to be within their guidelines and then change the guidelines on you. Its absolutely mind boggling the level of incompetence. Well, Im out 3k. Guess Ill sell and move somewhere the king had less reach.

If your getting a permit I feel sorry for you. The process is rediculous and long. Especially for liners and pipe burst (plumbing).
