Still no security deposit refunded. Emails and texts ignored. The tenant before us was given zero refund, so we made sure the rental was in better condition than when we moved in. We even hired a cleaning company. At least a response would be professional. A refund would be honest. It’s past the 14 days they legally have to give us a list of damages.

UPDATE: They did send checks to reimburse for the application fees. Than you

This company stole $150 for an application fee, for a property I was looking at. Within a few days of payment, they rented the property to someone else and said they would send my money back.

I have reached out at least 5 times since with only 2 responses saying they are going to send the money and waiting on the broker. I have reached out 3 times since with no response.

The communication with this company to see a property hasn't been good. I can only imagine what it's like to be a tenant from this experience.

I will never rent with this company from the experience.

My wife and I rented a property from Zen Rent Property Management for a year. During our time, we had numerous maintenance issues that took much longer with her having to follow up on most in order to get them completed. When it was time for our annual inspection, we expressed to the individual who did the inspection that we had planned to renew our lease and sent a follow up email to find out the status of the lease renewal as there can be times that owners raise the rent beyond what your budget is, choose to sell a property, no longer will be renting, etc. The only thing we were told was 'they were in attempts to consult with the homeowner and would get back to us'. This was only roughly 2 and 1/2 months prior to our lease being up (6/13 one line email, lease expired 8/31). As a family of 4, we do not want to live in limbo where we are not certain the owners of the property are renewing the lease or what the status was. We sent a follow up every 1-2 weeks to see if we had any update, which instead of a simple reply saying that they had not heard back, or were still talking to the owners, etc. We were never responded to. We left emails, voicemails on any number that we could contact, and not until about 3 days prior to it being 30 days from the date our lease would expire were we sent an option to renew. We were still never contacted by email directly or phone in response to any of our messages, but just sent a link to renew if we wanted. Considering it was just shortly before they could have also provided us with a 30 day notice to vacate (we were certain this was going to the the case because of the lack of responses), we had proceeded with looking for a home to purchase. Thankfully, this worked out for us and we found the perfect home, but the experience we had with Zen Rent Property Management was what provoked us to expedite this process.

Had they returned any of our calls or emails, we would have continued to rent for the year and the owners of the property would not be having to pay their mortgage while they look for someone else to rent. Given the lack of response, I would go on the off shot that any prospective tenant has also struggled to get in touch with them to view or lease the property. I also feel terrible for the owners who now are losing at this point $325 per month once they do rent out the property from them having to continue to drop the price.

I will say the ONLY time we have really ever gotten a response from someone at this company is from Dylan in their office. Unsure of her position, but has at least tried to get us in touch with someone, usually with no success.

While I am not in the real estate business, in my option, I would look for a property management company that communicates with the tenants when they are reaching out with questions, needs, or concerns. As a previous tenant, I would recommend looking to lease elsewhere if you want to be able to contact someone from the company you are leasing through, should you have to.

Called them many times, left several voicemails day after day, since I was interested n 2 of their properties but of course had some questions and wanted to speak with someone before putting up several thousands of dollars that they do require to hold, while reviewing/screening your application. I wanted to know how long before I would receive a refund of the refundable portion (less the admin fee), and through what method I would receive the refund (i.e. cash like I had to give them or a check in the mail, etc.). Nobody ever called me back at all. I expressed in one of the multiple voicemails I left that I had already left voicemails previously, also that I was interested in renting (spending money with the company) but simply needed a reply. Never happened. As a small business owner and former customer-facing support worker for over 3 decades, it very off-putting and tells me straight-away I would never want to rent from them. If I had a maintenance issue it would be the same process, of me calling so many times just to be completely ignored. I felt like my money and I are very unimportant to this company. When I see the other reviews from previous renters here expressing the same sentiment (no response from staff) it confirms that I would never rent from them.

By far the worst management company we have rented through. Good luck on getting any response from them. We rented a property for a year through them and struggled to get a response after multiple emails, calls and messages to pretty much any email address or phone number I could find for them. We were contacting them to try and see about our lease renewal and could never get a hold of anyone nor would we get a call back. We chose to pursue purchasing as we were nervous about the status of them renewing our lease and given being unable to get ahold of anyone left us nervous. After moving out, we were never given an itemized list of deductions so we could dispute any that we did not agree with. I was given just a basic round number ($400-cleaning, $140- Maintance labor, $240-carpet cleaning). I found it odd that all numbers were rounded and no other information provided to support the charges they deducted from our deposit. Again, when I tried to contact them for more info on this, we never received a response after multiple follow-ups again. Thankfully it worked out in our favor but for anyone looking to rent through them, I would look elsewhere.

Worst rental company you could ever use. Please rent with anyone else. They do not respond to phone calls. Will not call back after a message. When you move out, don’t worry about hiring any cleaners because they will charge you through the security deposit anyways. They have no intention to give you the full deposit back. Would give zero stars if possible.

Initially discovering them on Google raised some skepticism due to a few low-star reviews, but I'm grateful I didn't let that deter me from visiting their Mesa office. Meeting Dylan, one of the assistant property managers, reassured me with her pleasant demeanor, clear communication, kindness, and understanding of our unique situation from the very beginning. Despite the initial challenges in our rental search, Dylan guided us through the process and helped us secure a rental that perfectly suited our needs.
