Probably one of the most underrated golf courses. Such a besutiful course. The greens are well taken care of. Nice driving range and putting area. The course is forgiving but also has a few challenges. We saw deer, birds and other wildlife while playing. Worth the drive and ferry ride from Seattle.

Port Ludlow is one of the most interesting courses I’ve played in the PNW. It has a very wandering layout with large decayed tree stumps in play so that you must hit a broad variety of shot shapes on every single hole. It is challenging, beautiful, wooly but well maintained. It feels like you’re exploring middle earth in the Hobbit.

For folks who golf around Seattle, you may not have had a chance to play this course because it’s a long drive and / or ferry ride to get here. But if you're a serious golfer in the PNW, you must make the trip at some point. I would suggest staying at the Port Ludlow Inn that is part of this small community so that you can have a good dinner and a good nights sleep before / after your rounds of golf.

Now, about the course. From the tips, this is course is "under" 7000 but has a 74 rating for a reason - your distances and angles mean everything to a good score here. An interesting aspect of the course is that it has quite a few holes that require a legit draw or fade off tee. Sure, you can hit a straight ball, but with the large tree stumps throughout the course, you'll actually have to work hard to get around them and get on the green in regulation.

There are lots of fun elevation changes throughout the round, but there are a few holes that are strong uphill battles with tilted fairways that can expose the gaps in a less experienced golfer's repertoire. You'll need to hit the number, play the right shape, have a solid awareness of your club distances, and even then you'll need a bit of luck 🙂

As for the greens, there are a fair amount of long, breaking putts that will really test your lag putting and your green-reading skills. The fringe around the greens are nice and well maintained, but like many PNW courses, the moisture in the soil can leave you with the occasional fat chip, so you'll need to be careful not to get too cute with your wedges!

Overall, the creeks, oversized tree stumps, water features, and occasional tightly-placed trees will really test your shot shaping skills and distance control! I would expect no less from a course like this. This is one of the real good ones out here in the PNW, so have fun.

Waited in the pro shop for three minutes before being acknowledged by any staff member, just to be told that the back nine was closed due to aerating. Wasn’t told this when I booked the tee time over the phone a week prior and it was not posted on the website. We decided to play just 9 holes anyway, but less than 10 minutes later we decided to go somewhere else where we can play a full 18 holes so I went back to the pro shop to request a refund. Another 5 minutes of waiting before a staff member came in and said they can’t offer a refund. We went out and played anyway just for every single green to be covered with sand without warning and after paying the full 9 hole price. Very poor experience.

Great course, we played it twice in 4 days June of last year. Still a little wet in places but a awesome track with lots of elevation change and doglegs left and right. 9 and 10 were some of my favorite holes to play.

Great course, but greens were very slow. Not recommended for beginners. Playing here first time is hard, you need to learn the course before you can score a decent round.

JR’s Sand Trap! We got home late from a trip and have been wanting to check out the new digs! They don’t have an individual google presence yet so wanted to post this here. Great little spot, kitchen till 7:30p and close at 8p. Food was great! And Krista is fantastic. Gunnar enjoyed the local version of a Hefeweizen 🍻 Will be back!

Course is always beautiful, BUT in the middle of April, to not be 90 degrees was pretty bad They also wouldn't give my 75 year old father a handicap flag. Should have been 90 degrees on alot of holes.

Ok value as we payed nearly the same here and White Horse. 9 and 18 are fully uphill holes, not our favorites. Plenty of good par 3s here, tee shots that make you shape the ball both ways, and greens are well protected. Worth checking it out. Just beware the 3 putts with MEGA sized greens
