First of all, the rooms are quite large. Not sure if the photos do it justice honestly. Very comfortable bed, had an amazing sleep. The air conditioner was powerful enough to keep the large room at my preferred rather chilly temperature. There is a restaurant a short walk away that is quite good, Arthur's Supper Club I think it was called. The lady at check in and the gentleman at check out were both very polite and helpful. Great spot to stay, would stay again if I'm ever coming through Spring Green again!

truly a one of a kind place! my family has been going here for now the third generation. i cannot express how wonderful the staff is, how perfect the destination is, and how much the round barn means to me! we will definitely be back for our next house on the rock trip! this place is a hidden gem!

According to their website, this hotel was converted from a restaurant to a lodge in the 1970s. When you stay there, you really do get those vintage vibes. It is easy to close your eyes and imagine this place as an out of the way getaway 50 minutes outside of Madison, complete with pool and cocktail lounge. I'm reasonably confident if the walls could talk, they would tell some interesting stories (much like the great Don Q inn also in the area).

Nowadays, the hotel has been wholly renovated so as to maintain its iconic and kitschy look, but with an interesting addition of live, laugh, love vibes. The hotel leans into the barn theme, with many rustic touches.

While the rooms are small, this was a fun place for a nights stay. We especially loved the pool, easily one of the best hotel pools I've ever experienced. It was warm, clean, and cozy. Like many older hotels, however, the only caveat is that the beds are not the greatest. I have a bad back and struggle at most hotel beds. This was no exception. Still, for a night it was still fun and funky.

TL;DR: roach. hassle.
as you can see we had a visitor during our stay (and apparently so did the guests next to us, as we heard them exclaim "AW HELL NAW THERE'S A ROACH IN HERE!!!").. personally I have some traumatic bug memories lol and the way this incident unfolded had me really freaked out. a friend I was traveling with was understandably freaked out as well. I had seen it in the bathroom maybe an hour or two prior, between hearing the other guests and getting these pictures. anyway.. it was almost 4 a.m. and the only offender (that made itself known 😰) had been dealt with so it felt pointless to switch rooms at that time. as my friend said, what are they gonna do, put us in another room with roaches?
I hate confrontation so I mentioned it during check out hoping, but not pushing for, a refund. the woman was very apologetic and said they had this problem last year and thought they got rid of them.
I reached out again once we got back home, outright asking for compensation. Responses in the pictures. a huge part of this is also Booking's fault for their horrid response times but this review is about the lodge so I won't open that can of worms. this has dragged out for weeks and it was really frustrating waiting just to be told conflicting information. I was getting nowhere. after more silence from Booking, I contacted Round Barn Lodge again about my concerns.

I really did not appreciate the way they insinuated we could've been making things up. now you do know we saw a roach.

anyways, I think I'm finally getting somewhere after forwarding their last response. besides that little critter the rooms were alright. I liked the high ceilings. did not like how the parking lot was right outside our window lol beautiful headlight views. bathroom situation was chopped. very small and with 3 people needing to shower things got chaotic and messy real quick. & not even a lid to the toilet seat to at least set things on or prevent others from falling in 😭 bed was comfy from what I remember.. though I didn't do much sleeping due to the horrors.

pool was so unbelievably awesome though. +1 star for that

From booking to checkout staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed in room 100, which was a suite. We had 7 in our room. We had three bedrooms for 5 of our guests, then one guest slept on the sleeper sofa and another on a roll away we were told could be used. The mattresses on these two "beds" were in horrible condition. If the primary reason to book a hotel is to sleep, this was a huge fail. Absolute garbage.

Great location, easy to get to, and my room was huge. Front desk staff was very friendly. The bathroom was very tiny and hard to turn around in and close the door, and I am not a big person. Also, housekeeping was a bit casual. I did not get fresh coffee cups or trash emptied in my room.

We were on the local Fall Art Tour which happens every fall and encompasses the area from Baraboo to Mineral Point. Our plan was to stay again at Dodgeville, but after seeing the Round Barn Lodge, we decided to stay here. I love the old round barns, so that was what drew me in initially. We did not have a reservation, but were able to get a very nice room on Friday, October 20, 2023. The front desk lady was very nice. Our room was on the 2nd floor, #208. King size bed and all the amenities one could ask for. The whirlpool tub could not be used, but no problem... we don't care for them anyway. The room was a little strange, vaulted ceiling, wood beams hanging below it, partial paneled walls. just weird overall, but again no complaints, we were comfortable. They have a swimming pool, didn't use it. This is a huge place that includes a banquet hall, a bar and a coffee shop. One can walk the meandering connecting hallways and see all the historic framed (using old window frames) photos of the area. Breakfast is not included with your room, but the coffee shop serving breakfast sandwiches and other tasty treats is a short walk away. We enjoyed this place.
