REALLY great experience with Anchor Realty so far! Melvin has been prompt and on top of any maintenance requests. Dan/Peter were easy to work with and made the process of finding/moving in easy and enjoyable. It's been a couple of months and I'm really happy with everything and grateful for the apartment and team!

We lived in an apartment managed by Anchor Realty for 3 years. They always responded promptly to maintenance requests (we had about 2 during our entire time), and we got our security deposit back without any issues.

I strongly advise against working with Anchor Realty as our experience with them was terrible. If you're considering working with them, I suggest reading their online reviews first.

We were interested in renting an apartment unit from them, but the experience was frustrating. Jason rushed us during the viewing, even though we arrived early. After we submitted our application, they only gave us 24 hours to accept the offer and sign the lease. They also insisted on a move-in to be only two weeks away, and required cashier's checks for the first month's rent and deposit upon signing the lease.

Since we were rushed and had limited time in our first viewing, we requested to visit the unit again before signing the lease. When we saw Jason, he made it known that he was not happy that we haven’t signed the lease. When we showed Jason the cashier's checks and explained that we would be dropping them off in the leasing office mailbox after we finish viewing the unit. But because it was over the weekend, he advised us not to leave personal information with the checks as the mailbox was located on Market Street and it gets broken into quite often. This made us concerned about leaving almost $9k in cashier's checks in their mailbox, so we decided to hand them in personally first thing on Monday.

When we went to the leasing office on Monday to sign the lease and submit our application, we were scolded by Janelle for not submitting my application. She also mentioned that Jason had called me "shady," which was unprofessional and untrue. My income, savings, employment history, and credit score were all the same as my partner's or better. I explained that I have no problem submitting my application right then and there if needed. Janelle seemed to calm down after that. However, Jason was not having it.  He said the owner was upset that we didn't accept the leasing offer within 24 hours and was rescinding the offer.

Dealing with Jason and Janelle was unpleasant as they were unprofessional and unreasonable. We were relieved when the leasing offer was rescinded as we found a much better place and signed a new lease within a couple of days. A month has passed since then, and Anchor Realty still hasn't been able to rent out that unit, even after dropping the rent by $100. I wonder if the owners, Mark and Matthew Campana, are aware that their employees have cost them thousands of dollars by throwing tantrums and turning away potential renters. Or, perhaps they don’t care a at all. This is not their first 1 star review and I certainly don’t believe this will be the last either.

We have not had a single positive interaction with Anchor Realty since signing our lease. Their main contact for people with leases is Mel Fong, who is condescending, non-responsive, and difficult to communicate with. The incompetence of their team is shocking at times.

We have had problems with our in-unit washer and dryer, and we were told we would need to handle it ourselves because it would be too much burden for Anchor Realty (which I think is the whole point of a property manager?). A previous poster described them as "slummy" and I think that's a great way to put it.

Their team does the absolute bare minimum in terms of communication and meeting the needs of their renters. I would truly not recommend using Anchor Realty to anyone I know.

Personal experience with this company has been just fine. I rented at two different properties of theirs in SF in nob hill. One pre pandemic for 4 years and one post for 2 years. They gave me the full deposit back both times and have been pretty responsive when I had problems. No significant issues.

My partner and I have been living in an Anchor building in Hayes Valley for almost 6 months now and it's been a pretty solid experience. No complaints, only good things to say so far.

1. They have been renovating the units as people have moved out. We were lucky enough to move into one of these and it's been a godsend to have a beautiful kitchen and bathroom in the city that are FINALLY up to date (in SF we've all lived in a powder pink bathroom from the 70s at some point!). Solid surface countertops, new tile work, new/like new appliances, new fixtures, and a shower head that actually fits my 6'-5" bf AND has nice pressure. We might be paying a pretty penny for this unit especially given we moved in just prior to COVID SIP hitting but so glad we're in a beautiful space that is literally keeping me sane while we're stuck inside.
2. So far they have been very professional, responsive and communicative with repair work, providing security to the bike room (which was already inside the garage) after we had a theft, and they installed an additional clothes W/D as we only had one set previously. These are also app controlled. Yay tech!
3. Our property manager, Betty, is super kind and chill (she lives above us).

Great and speedy service! We've been renting a house from Anchor Realty for more than six years. Whenever we need maintenance service, it always gets taken care of quickly. I called the office on Monday afternoon, 15 minutes before the closing time, and reported a blockage in the sewage line outside of the house - a recurring issue that happens every other year due to tree roots. Mal and Mark worked super hard to find a plumber, and left 3 messages on my phone to confirm the appointment. The blockage was fixed the next morning. Unparalleled customer service!!!

I would highly recommend Anchor Realty to anyone who plans to rent an apartment in San Francisco. I worked directly with Sharon and she was amazing: always responsive and accomodating. My wife and I had 0 issues moving in and moving out a year later. Sharon sent us our deposit in full within a week after we left the apartment.
