Overall, this was an okay place to stay. The cleanliness of the place when we arrived was below average. We had a sewage leak from the ceiling right above our kitchen area which was not fixed throughout our stay. This was confirmed via the plumber who came out to attempt to fix it but it remained an issue throughout our stay. This also led to us being without a toilet for two days of our trip which was inconvenient with such a large group in the house. At first, they were easy to get ahold of but that quickly led to no call backs about the leak or solutions. They did right their wrongs through money back but we had to go through Air BnB in order to receive compensation.
The location was great with a short walk to the beach front. It is pretty far from main Gulf Shores attractions but we liked being in a well kept residential area. There were some minor things that needed fixing within the house but nothing that impacted our stay too terribly (besides the sewage leak near our food).
I’m not sure if I’d recommend this place.. but I will give them credit in compensating us for the inconvenience. The hole in the ceiling is located near the kitchen which was never fixed and it is where the sewage leak was coming from.
The response posted by the host demonstrates what I indicated—they did in fact give us compensation. However, it is incorrect that they immediately answered our calls. Once the plumber came out on Wednesday and told us it was in fact a sewage leak, they did not return our calls.
Like I indicated above—overall, this stay was okay. But, based on unfixed issues, I cannot give it a five star review. I genuinely think that once these issues are resolved, it will be more accommodating for guests.
