Budget Truck Rental - Flagstaff, Arizona

Post returning a car with full fuel, I was sent a e-invoice with a charge for fuel. I had luckily taken a photo of the full fuel gauge. I called the number listed for this specific budget. A lady who could barely understand English answered the phone could not understand the simple problem and transferred me to national customer service. After arguing with them, they agreed to investigate.

Instead I returned to the store, where the gentleman could simply explain that the GPS did not register the full tank, as I refuelled so close to the budget store. Why could no one else explain this? And he fixed the problem. However at this point ive now wasted 1 hour of my holiday for an error caused by budget, who offered no compensation.

Worst yet, I left a negative evaluation score. The district manager emailed me to say she could not see any problem regarding fuel and sorry for my experience. This goes to show the lack of understanding and knowledge with in the whole system. She couldn't even take the time to review the case. I replied to her email and she did not even have the courtesy to reply back to me.

Terrible experience, I would avoid, or ensure you were not over charged for your rental from this store.

Don’t recommend using if you want a disinfected car or any customer service from their local agents in Flagstaff. Rude, inconsiderate and not taking appropriate cleaning measures in these times, tsk tsk tsk.

I rented a vehicle from Budget for a month. I had previously done this for a month and had a lovely experience at the rental agency in LA. Have to admit that the rep when I returned my car to in Flagstaff wasn’t that friendly, but I thought nothing of it at the time. I needed to rent a vehicle again, did it online, had wanted to shift the day by 2 days, but could never get ahold of a local agent to do this without almost doubling the charge, I’d already paid so wasn’t going to change.

When I went to pick the car up, I wore a face covering, the client before me did not, nor did the agent. I did ask if he had one he could put on when it was my turn, he did not, I went with it. He told me how the car might smell of cat pee as the vinegar mixture used for cleaning left a bit of a scent. I said no problem, happy that cleaning and disinfection was being done to take care of things.

The car was extremely dirty on the outside and when I got in, no smell and it was kind of dirty with crumbs on the dash…I went in to say something, he said it was cleaned but they can’t do the outside there……he didn’t seem willing or wanting to do anything or even come outside with me to check the car, so I left as I had a conference call starting.

I called back a couple days later to ask about the car as it is quite large and when I rented an intermediate SUV before it wasn’t so huge feeling, I was told the Mitsubishi Outlander was an intermediate SUV, online it calls it an intermediate... I brought up the cleaning and mentioned it was distressing and I was sure that it had not been cleaned on the inside as there was still trash under the back seats. He got upset with me and rude and hung up as I was asking his name.

He called back a couple hours later, said a car came in from phoenix smaller suv and he would like to exchange for me and wipe away the mileage charges. I said sure, couldn’t come in that day so said I would come the next day. He said he would arrange with his coworkers and to just come in. For a moment I was like, okay, Budget comes through with some customer service, then I went to exchange…

I arrived on Saturday morning and waited while another customer was attended to, happy to see both agents wearing masks this day. When it was my turn I said I was here to exchange the vehicle, that it was arranged by the BM, I think Chad is his name. He asked why I explained it was dirty, I guess he hadn’t been explained the situation…. We went together to inspect the car and he informed me I needed to fill the tank that it was an eighth low (actually 1/16). I said I was not told to fill it up and that I had driven it twice it couldn’t be that low. As I thought Budget was trying to make up for potentially allowing me to get infected with Covid-19 from a car with NY plates that hadn’t been disinfected from the previous customer, I did not think a small amount of fuel should be such a deal breaker.

At this point I said I would just keep the car exchanging was more of a hassle than I needed.

The folks that run both this location and the one at the airport have horrible customer service!! They where caught in many lies when my daughter had made reservations for a cargo van 2 weeks prior to needing it they called the day we where to pick it up and said they had no vans but we could rent a box truck. It is a very long story bottom line is they could care less about the customer and their needs.

Paid for a ride across town just to receive no service! Checked with two managers the day before telling me to book online which I did just for them to not honor it.

Not reallt a rating, but just to note that they clise at 3:00, according to the Budget customer phone number, whereas the Internet says 5:00 on weekdays. No idea which is correct, but don't relay on the later time.

Gene is the manager at the flagstaff budget rent a car. I have worked with him all summer. Respectful and reliable. You rarely meet people who are this nice in today's world. He explains everything. The nice and most wonderful sentence to hear was " we look forward to seeing you." Who goes that far nowadays? Bought a tear to my eye and a smile to my face. Made having to get a rental car bareable and a permanent customer.

I’d leave no stars if I could. Made a reservation about a month ago. Got the confirmation email, a reminder and then the reminder day of pickup. I go to get my rental and I sit there for about 20 minutes and they tell me they can’t find my reservation. I gave them the number and to no avail they said “you must have been randomly deleted and not notified”. Makes no sense to me because I have all these reminders sent from you guys on my phone. I asked about the 5 trucks they have parked outside but they are ALL BROKEN. I told them I move tonight and the guy behind the counter told me I was S.O.L. and couldn’t help me. So I had to go pay double for a U-haul. This place will not help you in anyway.

Also while I was there, this lady came in for a rental car and immediately came back because the rental car they gave her was metal on rotor on all 4 wheels. Didn’t even make it out of the parking lot.

Rented a truck and drove it from Peoria, AZ and didn’t even make it North to Flagstaff. Call road side assistance and waited 6 hr to tell me that the truck would not make it to my final destination. I drove to the local dealer and they told me I needed to leave the store because they were closing. They literally kicked me out and left me stranded. I called everyone and their mother and they told me I can pay for hotel or rental car. No help rude people don’t care as long as they get there money. Who kicks someone out when it’s snowing and leaves them stranded. I will never use them again. All of them are rude inconsiderate people. Their truck breaks ooppps sorry but screw you. You’re on your own.
