I have been living at The Capitol Club Apartments for almost a year now, and I have had some good and some bad experiences.

The best things about living here are definitely the location, and the amenities.

For those who love nature and want some serenity at home, but also want to be close to the city, shopping and events, this is a nice little nook to live in.

The amenities are a wonderful addition, and well worth paying for.

I love that they allow their tenants to have little patio gardens and grow plants, and have a community garden as one of their amenities.

They also do raffles and host fun events for their tenants.

Now, here are the worst things about living here;

There has been a problem with crime here.

The 1st month I was here(spring) my bike was stolen from outside my unit door.
This fall, there was a man with a backpack(who clearly did NOT live here) walking around the complex, checking car doors.
This winter, a neighbor overdosed on fentanyl.

So, I wouldn't say it's the safest location, even if it is ideally located, with a lot of amenities.

And then there is the parking lot...
Many of the parking spaces have large, over-grown trees with limbs that hang far out over the cars, risking falling limb damage to the tenants and their vehicles.
The only solution they offer?
Pay an additional fee for a carport.

The gutters also get clogged with debris from the nearby trees very quickly, and are not cleaned often enough to keep them functional.
Many gutters have holes or leaks, because of this.

There is an enormous amount of water that falls in this area in the fall, winter and spring, and this apartment complex is in a bit of a valley.

The water does drain, and they have been keeping the drains clear, but there is moisture present almost year round, and yes, that can create a mold and mildew problem.

To their credit, in my interactions with management and maintenance, they have acted immediately to address all concerns regarding mold in my unit, and potential damage outside my unit.

I did have a problem when I 1st moved in, with the water heater and the unsanitary condition of the water itself.

I had to shower at the club house (thank goodness for those amenities) for a while, because my water was literally florescent green.
All jokes about getting super powers from radioactive bathwater aside...it took far longer than it should have to flush the water heater and clear out the pipes.

My unit was also left without exterior walls for over 3 months.

After by-passing the assistants and talking to the senior staff directly, they did hop on it and get the walls put back on very quickly.

They have since gotten much better about responding to maintenance requests, and I think they will continue to improve their maintenance of the buildings.

I did have a problem with my dishwasher and 2 of the electric outlets in my unit, that they fixed immediately, with no trouble what-so-ever.

They also changed out all the exterior lights in the complex that were non-functional, without needing any prompting from me (if a neighbor mentioned that, THANK YOU!) and cleared out a massive amount of furniture left by the dumpsters.

So yes, there are problems here, AS THERE ARE EVERYWHERE!

Overall it IS a great place to live, enjoy nature and the provided amenities, while still being close enough to walk into town.

I hope I can update this review to 5 stars in the future.

If they can get the broken gutters fixed and keep them clear of debris, and keep the trees over-hanging the parking lot from posing a risk to their tenants(without charging them for it!) then I can definitely upgrade this to 5 stars.

Unfortunately, there is not much they can do about the crime in the area, or the water falling from the sky.

So, being a reasonable and understanding person, I can definitely give them 4 stars for doing what they can to improve and maintain the things that ARE in their control.

Looking forward to continued residency here for many years.

2. The maintenance department is top notch.
3. The grounds are manicured and well maintained.
Negatives

Upon my first application, everything was going well until I couldn’t get a straight answer from the lady when I was asking questions about the apartment. We ended up canceling it after already paying for the application due to the extreme rudeness from the person. I would fill out what was given to me and then proceed to get several rude phone calls saying I didn’t fill everything out. After making sure, once again, everything was filled out I got yet another phone call asking me to pay the deposit fee and I wasn’t even accepted yet. I was being rushed to move into a place I didn’t know anything about. After this I decided to take a break from trying to move out. A few months later I decided to apply as it was so close to my work . I sent multiple emails asking about the accessibility of the unit due to a disability. And questions about my service dog, no response to either, no emails or phone calls… I paid and filled out the application giving them the benefit of the doubt, just to be screwed over again. The hold on the unit was taken away and still no answer or phone calls back from Capitol Club. The staff was rude and unreliable, even during the tour we took the lady had a bad attitude. I was told that they were understandable with first time renters but continuously ignored me and gave me false information multiple times when applying.

The apartments are nice to look at, but there's a lot to improve. We had a problem with mold, and we talked to management about it. The first time, they told us it was because we won't open the bathroom window (we did). However, a close bathroom would only cause problems there, but it was everywhere. The heater, dishwasher, walls, and windows. It even got behind my posters. It would have destroyed them if I hadn't laminated them. We had to throw out a lot of wooden utensils, clothes, and shoes. I told them about this and they checked everything. The problem was an open chimney. The water damage was so bad that they were able to remove the wall by sticking their finger through. It took them at least 3-4 months, but they fixed the problem. They removed the chimney from other units. Maybe they had the same problem. The mold didn't go away. It just decreased. By the time I moved out and removed everything, I still found some behind different stuff. I would be cautious when moving in or if you already live there. I don't know about others, but the cost of living there is too high for what they offer. Be careful if the unit has been recently painted. I think it's just to cover the mold coming through the walls.

Again updates:
I've vacated, they have began renovations pictures below and almost 3 weeks after I've already turned in keys a neighbor was kind enough to update me they posted a notice on my former door for eviction... more sleezey stuff now I have to go to court to defend I don't live in a place currently available! rentable by anyone interested in these crooks. So gloves off full on fights by psychotics and former criminals will happen possibly against your windows. office will ask for your footage while at work because your cameras work theirs dont and because they don't run the criminal check they charge you for and dont care if a resident is psychotic threatening them they need out by 5...so leave it for meh neighborhood ...to handle
Updated:
Attached photos are basically how they handle fleas and amenities. Understand that I paid 600$+ holding deposit almost 2 months before moving in. This means it was empty, the pest control came twice and didn't bother to treat the unit. As you can see from the reply to this review they could care less that their neglect led to everything I just moved in being infested.
Of course I opted out of moving everything back out of an apartment and sitting in the club house with a cat for 4 hours or more. Less than 48 hours after moving in. Just do your job, you had over 2 months.
Also as you can see they don't so much offer any apology or reasonable option but threaten me with liability because they did not properly eradicate pests prior to allowing someone to move in....and that was just the first few days or weeks of signing a lease. Basically just would like others to not fall for the same.

Honestly it looks okay, but I've been here less than 3 weeks have been lied to about fleas, amenities...and it wouldn't bother me as much if they were not obviously trying to lie or deny any misleading info. I live on the second story told them I had a flea allergy they assured me it was inspected...3 days after move in took them an additional week to admit they never treated it prior because it didn't appear to have any. Then took 3 weeks to get a single straight forward answer about a pool availably.

Do not rent here. Capitol Club Apartments is a living nightmare disguised as a place to call home. The management team is a collection of the most incompetent, rude, and downright despicable individuals you could ever have the misfortune of dealing with. They conveniently ignore any attempts at communication or maintenance requests, leaving residents to suffer in silence.

Upon moving into my apartment March of 2020, I was greeted not by a welcoming environment, but by a flea-infested apartment that management callously refused to address. I spent thousands of dollars getting rid of the fleas. The property itself is a disgrace, with a level of neglect that is truly appalling. The amenities are a joke, functioning about as often as a broken clock. The parking lot is CONSTANTLY flooded due to lack of proper drainage.

Don’t even get me started on the state of the apartments—they seem to have been frozen in time, with renovations apparently being a foreign concept. They raised our rent often, but never offered to improve the apartment itself or replace outdated appliances. Rent increases without renovations are theft. The parking situation is laughable. There are not enough spots for the amount of residents, and more often than not, we were left without proper spots entirely. Recently, our car was broken into and multiple high-value items were stolen, and Capitol Club’s management did not care. There is no security presence.

The real horror show begins when you become the target of management's harassment. My husband and I were subjected to a campaign of baseless accusations, from unwarranted tow notices to attempts to swindle us into unnecessary expenses. Ina, in particular, decided to single us out for having a simple entryway table outside our door, a necessity for me due to my disability. I relied heavily on the entryway table and the last few months in the apartment were hell without it. Meanwhile, others flaunted their own tables without a word from management.

Capitol Club Apartments is a cesspool of neglect, harassment, and discrimination. Do yourself a favor and steer clear.

We haven't lived here so this review is just based on our tour of the place.

We stopped in without prior notice over a weekend while apartment hunting in the area. Lorena was very kind and thorough during our tour of the apartments available and of the club house, very happy to answer even our most annoying questions. Everything looked very clean and well maintained, and the apartments are laid out very nicely inside, even with a smaller square footage they felt very roomy and we couldn't hear much coming from other apartments around us. The balconies especially are very gratuitous versus other apartments we've seen, and those are the cleanest laundry machines I've seen in awhile for an apartment complex. Lorena has been patient and understandable while we worked with a potential move-in date over a month away, and even though we ended up renting a house elsewhere instead we'll be keeping these apartments in mind for the future.

I have been here for 7 years now and have had no complaints about this complex. My family and I have been treated very well here. With all the amenities, what's not to love!! Indoor heated swimming pool, outside pool, gym, my favorite punching bag, and a dry Sauna!!! Not to mention they do lots for us. For example, they do lots of raffles for us along with get togethers throughout the year.
The staff is amazing! Sierra, Ina, Lorena, Steve, and Brandon!!! Thank you, guys, for always being so nice and understanding. Every time I had an issue, it definitely attended to in a quick manor! Thank you, guys, for everything!
