This review is on Bridgeport Homes which comes under the umbrella of Gateway Properties in Fayetteville, NC. We purchased a new construction home from them in July of 2019. For starters, we could not get the building contractor to show up before or after the sale to view a few things that needed to be fixed (the home is under a 1 yr warranty for new construction). We requested several times that he at least come by to talk with us about it. We had an electrical issue (which they did send someone to explain) and some major paint issues (you can see the drywall lines and lines in the ceiling and the paint is so thin that it doesn't even cover the wall in some places). We have been calling them for over 2 months trying to get them fix this. We have been told twice that a painter is coming, but when we call to confirm the day of, we are told he's coming the next week or the next week... We just keep being put off.
We also have a musty smell coming from the brand new air unit, so we called about that. They sent the air contractor out who told us that 1 in about every 75 new units has this smell. He recommended a few solutions, but we have not been able to get a response from Bridgeport/Gateway to solve the issue with a solution we are comfortable with. They did offer to put a $400 uv light (which is a low end uv light) on the coils, but that can corrode the unit over time, so we didn't want to go with that. We have tried to be patient and reasonable, but it hasn't gotten us anywhere. All we have asked is that they fix the things that should have been right to begin with. Based on my experience, they haven't stood behind their work and do not take care of their customers after the sale. We hope these issues will be resolved. If they are, we will update our review at the time of completion.
