My husband and I received our keys to our first home in 9/11/2020. Our journey started with Genie and Katherine in July of this year. I knew that when we were ready to start our house hunting for our forever home, that Genie was going to be my realtor. Her catalog of experience is so diverse. We purchased our home using our VA benefits and it was a seemingly easy process. Genie was a perfect fit for our first home buying experience. She was extremely knowledgeable on, not only the process, but on the neighborhoods we were looking at. Genie was very good at setting realistic expectations across the board and was honest about anything we asked about. We really like that she didn’t “sell” us on any of the properties we looked at. Rather, she gave us facts, pointed out things to note and let us form our own opinions and decisions about whether or not we wanted to submit offers. That was huge for us but we REALLY appreciate her patience with us. She was very reassuring and patient and ultimately helped us land an amazing home in a neighborhood we never thought we’d be able to live in. I am thrilled to recommend Genie Irish, the real estate agent who helped me purchase my first condo. Before starting this process, I searched online reviews and called several local agents. I selected Genie because of her knowledge of the local condo/ townhouse developments and her realistic assessment of the current market. The other agents had lots of sales-talk, but Genie got straight to business.

Genie sent listings for a variety of local condos in my price range and search area and listened carefully for feedback, taking into account my likes and dislikes. She attends all of the inspections on the properties she sells and has strong knowledge of maintenance and construction issues. When walking through properties, she looks for details like the seal on windows, stains on the ceiling that could indicate leaks and the condition of baseboards in the kitchen (that could be hiding moisture or indicate a past flood). Before making an offer, Genie gave good advice on potential maintenance issues that could show up during inspection and assessed what might need to be fixed before moving in and what could likely be postponed for a few years. I passed on one property due to Genie's sharp eye, which probably saved me big maintenance/ remodeling costs.

During the offer and negotiation process, I encountered some aggressive tactics in the very competitive 2021 sellers' market. Genie gave good advice in navigating counter-offers, and I felt that she was acting in my own best interest, rather than trying to get a quick sale. My second offer was accepted for a (reasonable for 2021) price for a condo that exceeds my expectations.
