Hawthorne took over our apartment complex a couple months back and since then has made living here even more miserable.

Hawthorne has made it very clear with their actions that they allow their staff to be extremely rude to its residents. I see they reply a generic response to everyone about contacting them we’ve contacted them multiple times for weeks through email and phone calls and haven’t heard back. We will NEVER rent with this company again & plan to break our lease. This is how Hawthorne allows its properties to be ran. This place is a dump.

EDITED TO ADD: clearly Hawthorne cannot read. Their reply to this is to reach out or fill out the contact form which I have been doing for weeks and no one has reached out to me.

Terrible rental company & terrible communication. Lock you in a lease, take your money, and don’t handle ANY COMPLAINTS. I’ve been living here for almost a year. Never had a month without issue. Contacted Hawthorne via email & phone because the property staff is incompetent, and they had them call me to tell me that my complaints were “harassing” instead of addressing the issue I’ve been having for MONTHS or letting me out of my lease as I’ve requested multiple times. I wouldn’t recommend this company to my worst enemy!

Hawthorne Residential Partners and Hawthorne at Haywood you all should be ashamed of yourselves. When your tenants need you the most…you pull the frigging rug from right under them!! Where “above and beyond” is a way of life. I don’t think so!! What about Hawthorne’s “Live It” culture represents our promise to exceed expectations every minute of every day? It’s how we put smiles on faces. No smiles here. This is nonsense!!! The letter you sent to your tenants in Asheville is insulting!! No compensation for rent is inexcusable and you need to rethink this. Hurricane Helene is the worst disaster in western North Carolina since 1916. These people have been through hell!! This is not going “above and beyond’. This is not exceeding expectations and this is not how you treat people!!! Period!!! There are no smiles at Hawthorne of Haywood now and someone should standup for these tenants and make this right!! That’s you…Hawthorne Residential Partners!!

Consistently awful rental company. Lived here for 3-4 years now and everyone I know hates the company. This place overcharges, specifically avoids residents phone calls to the point that you have to use *67 to reach anyone, adds extra fees for everything, will send you to collections immediately when you leave and not even give you access to the system to pay. Chooses money over people every single time. The local office is often unresponsive and unhelpful and out of touch, but I can’t even blame them as they are just controlled by a heartless corporation that will let them go in a second otherwise. The maintenance guys are great and that’s the only compliment I can give.

Post hurricane helene, the apartments have been unlivable with no water for 3 weeks, no power for a week, no wifi for 2 - many of us haven’t even been able to stay there and have had to pay to go other places. NO ONE got in touch with residents for weeks, and corporate refuses all calls and emails. They are refusing any rent forgiveness or even discounts for the month even though it has been unlivable and half the town lost their jobs. Yet they are posting “sending love and support to hurricane helene victims” on social media and deleting comments. Several other rental companies and individuals who have WAY LESS than Hawthorne have provided relief. This is not a small company that cannot afford rent forgiveness for the month. It’s unforgivable and disgusting - SHAME ON YOU, HAWTHORNE.

My ac has been out for a entire week. Literally. I've called and I've received only one portable in a 3 bedroom. This is unacceptable Hawthorne. I've tried calling the corporate number today and left a message, but nobody has reached out. These are unbearable living conditions. And my powerbill usage a day has doubled...

Update: The modified (automated)response message didn't appear til after the issues was finally resolved. Today is Monday, the issue was resolved Thursday 4:30pm. I had to reach out for assistance that's clearly provided within my leasing agreement. After 36 hours from my review on the corporate page, the issue was resolved. Customer satisfaction is mostly definitely not the Hawthorne way.

Hawthorne has done a terrible job answering to customer service requests, which honestly shouldn’t surprise me because they ignore customers and their problems to begin with. Clownshow.

EDIT : After the “owner” fraudulently replied that I will have the opportunity to speak with them if I call their number or fill out a form it’s important for other residents/potential customers to understand that I have called several times leaving messages as well as sent in several requests forms. This is nothing more than their attempts to gaslight people into thinking they actually care and do their job. I’ve provided my contact information to your company several times, if you’re the owner step up and do the job your employees have failed to do. I await your call.

I have been renting at the Meridian at Harrison Pointe Apartments for over 3 years now. This investment firm owns that property. Since then, my rent went up by $500 (31%) over 3 of those years without any meaningful improvements to the community. Additionally with construction on the apartment balconies for most of the time since they get the cheapest contractors they can find.

Their most recent business decision was to remove the choice between ATT and Spectrum and force everybody to sign up for Spectrum's inferior service. My upload speed is getting cut by 96%, reliability will be down, and will impact my work. I'm lucky to have an employer that is understanding until my lease is up. They do not have their residents in mind. They just look at their bottom dollar.
