My partner and I tried to apply to an apartment under this management company and I was told that because I was a graduate student we would have to have a cosigner despite both having over 700 credit scores and making 3x the rent. When I implored about why this was required for people from undergraduate to PhD students they had no real answer. He just said it's been that way for 30 years and it's common practice in Vermont. I have not seen this to be true. When I explained it felt discriminatory he hit me back with "well students aren't a protected group." Regardless if you are a new 18 year old student or a returning student in your 40's, this isn't right and it limits housing for a population we should be celebrating and taking care of for valueing their education and opportunities. If a person is not able to get a co-siger, they are out of luck. Even though they may meet all other criteria! Shame on you guys!

I had a great experience renting with Hinsdale from initial showing to move out. They were always responsive and were very helpful during the move in process. While I was renting, the property manager was always fast to help if I needed it. Overall I had a very enjoyable experience with my apartment and there were no surprise issues with the plumbing or electricity or anything. Jacob Hinsdale is also a very genuine easy going guy and he didn’t charge me anything on move out despite there being some wear and tear that other landlords would jump on the opportunity to take from the security deposit. I would highly recommend if you’re a renter to look into their apartments.

My experience with Hinsdale Properties was exceptional! I rented from them for almost 5 years. They keep their properties in good shape and fix repairs in a timely manner. Everyone that works for the Hinsdale Properties is respectful, professional, and kind. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a place to live in the area.

Too bad you can't leave 0 stars. Living under this property management company was a nightmare. Their building manager is not only disrespectful and condescending. He would routinely enter and drive by the property with no warning. During our lease, every problem reported resulted in a charge regardless of causality. Additionally, anytime he drove by and noticed something on our porch or lawn he would threaten us with even more fines. The attached photos of mold and property neglect show the extent to which they choose to neglect their properties. When we reported the mold Hinsdale's solution was to paint over it. DO NOT rent from these guys if you can help it.

I had a great experience renting from Hinsdale Properties. If I hadn't needed to size up, I would have loved to stay and continue renting from Hinsdale. Jacob, Laura, Lindsey, and everyone else were always so helpful, friendly, and quick to respond to / fix any issues or questions I had. They clearly care about their properties and tenants. They provide an app that made paying rent and requesting fixes super easy. Burlington is a pretty pricey town to rent from but compared to other Burlington properties Id say Hinsdale is fairly priced for what you get.
Overall felt very lucky and happy with my experience with Hinsdale Properties!

Hinsdale Properties are the best property managers to rent from in the greater Burlington area. Every team member (Jacob, Laura, Wendy) is always professional, timely, and responsive. They do their best to make things stress free and they truly appreciate decent tenants, as opposed to simply treating tenants as paychecks. They are reliable, trustworthy, and accommodating! It also doesn't hurt that they are extremely reasonable in regards to their rental prices - amazing value for your dollar! I am extremely happy that I chose to rent from them! 5/5 would suggest

Hinsdale is a great management company! I lived in one of their units for two years and could not recommend them more. Attentive, communicative, respectful, easy to work with, etc. Jake and his team take great pride in their spaces and it shows in their attention to detail, customer service, and general attitude. I will miss living under their management and wish them the best moving forward!

My experience with Hinsdale Property has exceeded expectations in all ways. The Property Management team (Jacob, Laura and Lindsey- hope I'm not forgetting anyone...) have consistently been responsive, very professional and compassionate when an issue arises. The unit was nice. I highly recommend Hinsdale Properties and will seek them out if I ever have rental needs in Burlington in the future
