LaurelRock truly does what their slogan says, they deliver "Exceptional Residential Landscapes". We highly recommend LaurelRock to anyone who wants highly competent, customer focused people to deliver top-notch landscaping service of their property. This 5 star rating reflects what you get from a 5 star hotel. More details below for those who want it. I will happily speak to anyone seeking a reference as well.

We moved into a newly constructed home in Darien in 2022 and signed a yearly contract with the same landscape contractor who had installed all of the landscaping on this 1.6 acre lot. It looks simple and good. He was very nice, hard-working, and flexible - just not the same caliber as LaurelRock. Within a year, the lawn and shrubs all looked great. But half of the ornamental trees that were planted had died. Our current contractor was unable to explain why and unwilling to replace them. Without an expert assuring me that new trees could survive I was too afraid to replace them anyway - let alone plant more like I wanted to do. After consulting several tree experts and landscaping firms we concluded that LaurelRock had the skills, expertise, and guarantees that we thought were better suited to maintain and further enhance this new property in the ways we envision. What a great decision!!

LaurelRock helped us plan and complete the first of our multi-phase enhancement plan and took over the annual maintenance contract, which extended the guarantee on all of the plantings. The design team was fantastic - welcoming my input and offering smart recommendations which included privacy screening trees fronted with layered perennial border gardens to deliver color variety and year-round interest. Easing my concern about the wetland/water management issues which had killed the trees planted in 2021 on the property, they included drainage infrastructure and appropriate irrigation adjustments. When, a couple of the arborvitae just didn't take (to be expected in a project of this scale) they swiftly replaced them at no cost to us. Our neighbors are still complementing us on how good the property looks. We absolutely love it and can't wait for the garden glory to return this Spring.

As for the weekly maintenance - it's nothing short of the best. Our lawn doesn't have a weed. You would be hard pressed to find any blades of grass in the garden beds. The ornamental grasses bordering the lawn are not cut up by the trimmers as they had been before. They use zero turn mowers, push mowers with bags for border edges, and string trimmers where needed. The neighbors make fun of my "golf course". The shrub pruning is done meticulously, mostly by hand with pruning shears and pruners. An added bonus is the team's use of battery powered blowers when cleaning up after each mow. No loud blowers each week!! Sometimes we can't even hear the blowers when we are inside and they are cleaning up.

Finally, and perhaps best, is the quality of the staff. The crews are all amazingly competent and polite. Even though some of them are challenged to communicate in English, they are always patient and attentive to detail. Since we have one very attentive english speaking property manager who handles every question/concern/request there is no language barrier. Burt, the president is cc'd on most of the email communications. He too is incredibly attentive, available, and customer focused.

We've been working with LaurelRock for many years on several projects, and we cannot recommend them enough. They helped us do a gut job on our entire backyard to regrade, redesign and put in a pool, and that has extended to many other jobs on our "list" as well as lawn maintenance. The entire team is highly competent, incredibly service focused, and just plain good people. They have great designers, project managers, and staff. In addition, they are very transparent about costs and pricing, and their finance department is very organized in keeping large projects straight with real accounting records behind everything (which we think is very different than most contractors). We really feel like the LaurelRock team is a part of our family we really love them. Last thing to mention is that all of the positive things we're mentioning really starts from the top with the owner, who is second generation. The owner really cares about his clients, his employees, and takes so much pride in the company's work, and if you have a chance to meet with him and his team that will all come through very clearly. We trust them, and we have never had any issues that one typically has with contractors. Everyone should absolutely give them a chance!

Our home's landscaping was professional done when the home was built in the mid 80's. It was time for a complete overhaul. Their design team not only created a beautiful portrait, but utilized many of the existing plantings that were too large for their current location, and incorporated them into useful locations in other areas.
