I recently bought a house using John Cornelius from the RE/MAX Byrd group as my agent. I could not be happier! John Cornelius did everything he could to make the experience a success. He took me to a variety of homes, found choice properties with the features I had communicated were top priorities, and provided fact sheets on each listing. Once I found the home I liked, John provided continual support to move the sale in the right direction. He protected my interests by making sure I understood the value of having a home inspection, pointing out pertinent information in the documentation, and by explaining specific details at the closing. Even after closing, John has followed up to check on our progress remodeling and moving and has been there to suggest various resources that could help. I also hired John to sell my other property. I highly recommend John Cornelius and RE/MAX if you're looking to buy or sell a home.

BEWARE of John Cornelius Real Estate Agent for Byrd ReMax
I waited months to do this review for the specific reason of giving the benefit of the doubt to the Tennessee Real Estate Commission. This man is an outright criminal with no moral compass except what points to him directly. November 2018, this man took money and advantage of my 83-year-old mother when he showed the woman a house in Piney Flats, TN. He did NOT disclose the house did NOT have a septic system, and the residence was NOT habitable, was not "move in" ready as he lied to my mother. He took $40,000 in CASH from a woman who had never purchased a house outright before. He led her to believe the home was safe. The house should have been CONDEMNED. There was no WELL, had faulty wiring, and not safe to live in. Yet, it was more important to John Cornelius to take my mother's money than show her a house that was suitable for an 83-year-old woman. She reported the agent to the Tennessee Real Estate Commission, included the information that went with the sale of the house. The Commission returned a statement that did not surprise us. They did NOTHING to help my mother, nor did they remove this man's license to ruin lives. Now her life-savings are GONE! She has nothing left, and she has to live with family and friends because she will never be able to get back what this man STOLE from her. This man has no business selling houses. He is a theft and a soul-sucking monster that will eventually find karma. The fact he works for ReMax and the Byrd Real Estate team helps me decide to spread the word about how toxic this man is, this real estate team is, and how horrible ReMax is as a company.

Do not use. I am moving one and a half years after buying from this agent. He made a negligent error that was entirely preventable if he and Mr. Byrd did their due diligence. Absolutely terrible.
