I hadn’t been here for a few years and I must say it was a major disappointment to return. the gentleman, at the deli counter that helped me was rude. Annoyed with me because there was no sign on the salad, so that I could give him a specific name. I was pointed it out to him. However, he was getting impatient, when I was pointing out exactly where it was in the case and telling him the ingredients. Then the sandwich he made me was horrible. The bread was not fresh. So I won’t be returning. Their quality has diminished and it’s just not worth another trip. Far better options out there

Very good fresh fruits and vegetables. I like the fish/butcher department deli and the cheese department. A little bit on the pricey side. I’ve been coming to this market for 21 years. I recommend it. Martin

We have been shopping at Market Basket for years. The store has everything you need. The best is their burgers. They are delicious made on the Barbq. They have a wide selection of bakery and seafood prepared and fresh fish. Go and shop there.

Been going here for years. Recently noticed how quickly the prices have skyrocketed. Last month I purchased breaded flounder in the seafood department and they have a great selection. Last month the price was 12.99 a pound. Stopped back the day after Christmas and the price was 19.99 ? I’m an avid shopper there especially in the seafood department. I was stunned by the amount of price increases there. That’s like almost a 70% increase 😳. Also stopped buy in their meat department as those prices went through the roof as well.

There is no other place that I will go for meat, vegetables and fruit chicken fish specialty items. I just can’t think of another store. Their food is wonderful. Their meat is restaurant great the people who are working there obviously enjoy their jobs because I have been going there probably for 30 years and I still see some of the same people we have grown up together this is trulya wonderful place to go and when the holidays come, there’s no other store I’m going to go to to get my special dinners and fish, etc. I can go on and on and I guess I have.

My clients wanted to get lunch from this location and when I arrived I seen it was a supermarket with a decent size deli that served food. I parked in the lot and walked in. I picked several sandwiches and for myself I got the shrimp, rice and vegetables. I paid at the register and left. When I got to dig in I had to add a lot of seasoned salt for it to taste to my liking. The food was just ok.

I had a party catered recently from Market Basket. I had been to several catered events but never used them myself, and since I was looking for a cocktail party menu I decided to give them a try. My husband and I met with Nancy months in advance and she was lovely and very helpful. With plenty to choose from we were confident we would be happy, especially since we also arranged through MB to have a server and bartender the night of the party.

#1 The servers were both OUTSTANDING. They catered to our every need allowing us to truly enjoy my party and our guests.
#2 They arrived on time and brought every single thing they would need to set up and serve, and then some. Gorgeous platters and baskets, garnishes, utensils...everything.
#3 One of our menu items was sliced Filet Mignon on toast. They heated and sliced this in my kitchen, giving us a perfectly cooked filet (though oddly sliced) and served it on sliced baguette which was not toasted. Tasty, but kinda weird.
#4 The food was plentiful and pretty. More than enough for my guests.
#5 My other hot menu items, chicken skewers, mini crab cakes, stuffed mushrooms, were only OK. The chicken was very dry,, crab cakes were all filling, no crab, and the mushrooms were very overcooked. So all of that was VERY disappointing. Cold apps and antipasto were nice.

Finally, MB charged my on file credit card extra time for each server citing overtime (which we never asked for or needed). When I questioned this, George, who I had no dealings with prior to the final emailed invoice, stated that it was in the fine print that I had signed. Now that is just WRONG and to me, nothing but a greedy pull at squeezing even more money out of a customer. I hate feeling like I was taken advantage of, but that is exactly what that was. Our servers were wonderful and we tipped them generously, but never asked either to extend their stay. So to have an OT charge tacked on top of a very expensive bill was outrageously upsetting to me.

Final summation: I probably would not use MB again. I just don't think the food quality was what we expected for the money we spent. Again, the servers and presentation were top notch, but the food, not so much.

Takes amazing care of you and truly cares about your wants, needs and wishes. Her staff respects her so much that it trickles down and you will have nothing but the best service. George, George, Tricia and more are all beyond fabulous. They are always my first call when a client needs catering. If you’re looking for the best of the best, you found it.
