If I could post negative stars I would. Honestly this company is the most insanely unprofessional, money-hungry, and rude people I have ever dealt with. Ever. PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM. Unless you want them to treat you like trash, take advantage of the fact that more people need rentals then supply is available, and want to be milked for every cent possible while simultaneously never doing anything for you. Just don’t do it. Let me tell you the story…
My roommate and I got in on a “rent special” and so moved in right before New Years in 2022 because we got the special if we moved in before the year. We had to pay for a few days in December but the house WAS NOT FINISHED. It wasn’t finished and we were paying rent. There was no front door knob, just a hole, there was no glass in the master shower, building materials were all over the place, and painting wasn’t finished. I ended up talking to the manager, Michael, on the phone and he told me “I was just being whiny.” He also said he would talk to the manager about it and I know he did not, or at least he never followed up on anything. I have never felt more belittled and talked down to as a woman. That was the rudest I have ever been treated by anyone. The worst was that I was in my car with the phone on speaker and my 90 year old grandma was in the car listening. Why would you treat someone like that? But I thought maybe it was just him who treats people like trash.
We move in and there is a 30 inch crack in the master bedroom window as well as grout cracking and coming up on the floors all over the house. We put it on our list of things wrong. We emailed and called for months about getting it fixed and were always told it was the builder who was at fault and they were working on it. Guess what? A year passed and none of it ever got fixed. There was never ever a time when Prestige tried to fix anything. Even when I asked specifically because we were supposed to be getting a lot of bad weather. Which brings me to my next point…
They hound you over owing them any minuscule amount. When I first set up auto draft for my rent payment I somehow set it up to come out twice the first month. I called and they said, “yeah, you’re not the only one, that happens a lot” but they could not refund it, that I would need to call the bank. (It was really more like they would not because there is no point of sale service where you can’t refund a customer or reverse a payment.) So I paid a fee to have a stop payment at my bank issued. AND THEN they called and emailed me constantly that I owed them $5 for the service fee to pay online. They had tons of time and energy to track down a $5 fee but never any to fix anything.
My roommate and I decided we could not stay there with them. We kept our head down for the year. Payed rent on time, followed the rules. We get an email after we move out saying we have been great tenants. My roommate had requested that if they were going to deduct anything from our deposit we would like to know. We hear nothing. We got our full deposit in the mail and are happy to be done with Prestige and have the whole thing behind us. We worked super hard to make the space as clean as possible, even scrubbing walls, putting primer in scuffs, and scrubbing baseboards and doors. We think this work has paid off. We decide just to leave it alone.
Fast forward to 3 months after moving out, we get a check in the mail for our “deposit.” That is two checks we have been sent. We are honest people so we call to notify Prestige of the error. And now they say we owe them money for a “cleaning fee”. We don’t know what was cleaned. They won’t say. If it’s like how they “cleaned” when we moved in, then they didn’t clean at all. They are the ones making mistakes and now saying we owe them money. They never admit they have made mistakes either, it is always someone else’s fault. They didn’t even know they made the mistake. We were kind enough to tell them. They have no compassion or understanding nor do they even try to take care of clients. It is only about money.
