Worst apartment experience ever. Doesn't deserve a star. Too many reasons but here are a few that took place in just over a year:
* Dumpsters were always overflowing. Never put "no dumping sign" up right away (took almost a year) so they filled up quicker preventing paying residents from using them. They literally came with a trailer most weeks to haul the heaps away.
* Never got the intercom running, or if they did, never communicated to any of the residents. (same for another one of their properties)
* Never posted instructions on how to use the firepits as promised
* Put me into a hotel for 11 days as they were NOWHERE near done with the property, had to live out of a suitcase after they promised my unit would be done. My things were kept in a locked unit, however, the building was unsecure. Even after moving in, it was a loud construction zone for months. Unsecure building where I was the only tenant, again, for months. Didn't feel safe with random cars showing up at odd hours of the night. My dishwasher wasn't hooked up, my apartment door was installed poorly where I couldn't lock or unlock it freely, no shower rod right away, the washer drain hose wasn't installed properly and flooded my apartment. I wasn't allowed to park in the underground garage for weeks (which I was paying for) because it wasn't done. The parking garage leaked when it rained. The breaker wasn't turned on so I had no hot water.
* Other tenants had it even worse than I did unfortunately.
This place was lipstick on a pig. When confronted of all of these things, they said I didn't have to choose to live there. No ownership.

Overpriced appts. Regal does not provide even a recycling container. I had to pay for my own. My microwave broke 2 months ago and after 3 phone calls, 2 maintenance tickets, and 2 promises of being put on the maintenance schedule....microwave is still broken. I even called the emergency maintenance phone number, just to talk to some one to see whats going on and NO answer there either. Oven buttons are about to break as well so as a mother of 2 children, I might not be able to cook at all soon! We pay 1200.00 for a 2 bed 1 bath apartment that looks cheap. I just received a letter stating rent is being raised to 1,300.0 a month. Little insulting since they don't treat you well and management is lacking. Don't rent here!

Not bad rent price compared to neighboring areas. Timely with repairs. They don’t do a good job clearing snow until after a storm happens. If you don’t move your car, they try to charge you $200. The lot clearing of snow isn’t even that good as there is always a layer of snow/ice leftover for all cars to slide on. They also don’t put any ice down on their sidewalks and just leave a bucket of salt for people to use on their own. They raise rent every year but make no modifications to the unit. Terrible in wall A/C unit that just cools the living room and nowhere else. When you move out, they charge ridiculous amounts for cleaning even if it was cleaned.

The apartment is nice but while I was living there I experienced many issues. The first day I moved in they had forgotten to turn on the water so I was unable to have any water for the first day. While living there one of my packages went missing and I reached out to the company and they expressed that they would look into it. They never followed up even while I had called asking for updates. They seemingly did nothing to look for my missing package and then one day it randomly appeared 3 months later. My biggest complaint is moving out. I had turned in my keys and stopped autopay on my account and they STILL charged me for a full months rent when I didn’t even live there anymore. Not only that but when I called and asked they said they would mail a refund check and I called repeatedly to make sure the mailed it. It took them TWO weeks just to even get it in the mail. I am still waiting for my refund and it has been four weeks already. I am extremely disappointed in their lack of urgency and customer service.

Gateway Apartments 2 bedroom unit. I am comfortable. This is my divorce transition housing. Kitchen is decent in size. Appliances are not glamorous, but work fine. I had to buy a microwave. Living area is rather large with sliding patio door to a small concrete area. Small room for laundry/ storage. Machines are provided. Carpeting and tile are older styles. Master bedroom has a small walk in closet. Second bedroom has a wall closet with folding doors, that one is a little small. Outdoor parking is ok. There are a few spaces for overflow/ guests nearby. Neighbors are all quiet and respectful. Trash bins could be emptied more frequently. My electric bill has been as low as 90 in fall to 120 in the cold winter months. Super location, close to any store. I no longer have to load up on groceries for a bunch of different recipes. If I need something, I can get it and get back in 20 minutes.

There is a massive wasp problem at their prairie place apartments and they refuse to acknowledge the problem. You can literally see them crawling into a vent by my balcony and my balcony is literally unusable because there are so many. These things are MASSIVE. Like two inches long. It’s not gotten to the point where numerous times they have gotten INTO my apartment. Keep in mind I never open my patio door because it’s unusable. This is not ok. For all I know, they could be in the vents and I’m constantly scared I’ll turn on my AC one day and have a swarm in my apartment. This is maybe overreacting but I’m allergic and I don’t feel that my life should be endanger for the amount I pay in rent.

Update: I received an email saying my review is unfair and asking if I’d like to move out. I find this a little aggressive. I don’t think my review is unfair at all, since I just had a 2 inch black wasp get into my apartment for the 6th time. Either there is a nest in a vent (which they insist is not the case) or they have the worst insulated windows ever which allow outside bugs to easily get in. This is not something that should be a common occurrence since I literally never have my windows open. I’m tired of the gaslighting.

Edit: Since Regal ignores my email response from over a month ago but then responds here I guess we have to do this publicly. You stated you acknowledged my concerns but that was only once I posted this review. Until then, you didn’t seem to care one bit. I also had my own exterminator come who did find a nest- perhaps you needed to hire someone better. I also did respond to your email with multiple solutions that I feel would reconcile the situation, yet I’ve been ghosted again. I would love a response to my email from August- preferably with the same tone you have in your public responses instead of how you have responded previously.

Not great with communication, or policy explanation.
I have had issues with getting a phone call returned, and questions answered.
They are big on giving late fees, and no reasons why.
They do not send out bills efficiently, and I have had problems with getting my mail sorted correctly in my apartment mailbox.

I would recommend finding out if they manage any apartment you are thinking of renting, and NOT renting with them, because of it.

I am looking for other accommodations because of their poor customer service and policies for charging utilities and managing fees.
I am also filing a report with the BBB about how their business is run, and hope an investigation results from it.
