Renter Beware!
The new HOA Prescott something or other charges a ridiculous move in & move out fee for elevator use and does not even provide padding for the elevator or signage letting residents know that it has been reserved for four hours for their $450 fee, so of course people are calling it and using it. And if you damage (scratch) the circa 1995 elevator you don’t get the $200 refundable part of the fee back.
Additionally, there is no cross vent in the units facing Camino De La Reina so it’s HOT. Get ready to pay SDGE for using a non-energy efficient AC - which, if you rent my old unit, is held in place with my yoga blocks in accordance with my lease agreement and the terrible AC repairman provided by my landlord, they are now part of the AC (you’re welcome!).
The fitness center features equipment that was probably archaic at the time the buildings were built in the mid 90’s, most of which doesn’t function properly.
There’s a “meeting room” you can pay a few hundred dollars to use if you want to step back into the 90’s in a glass enclosed time capsule of ugly furnishings.
Bike storage? Do you like a buying new bikes monthly? The bikes here are stolen ALL THE TIME. The chains are cut and it’s gone. Does the HOA care? Not their problem!
Also make sure your car doors are ALWAYS locked and there is no visible property in you vehicle when parked in the “secure” garage.
It’s noisy and dirty with the windows open. The “unhoused” are often quarreling loudly or passed out with syringes in their arms at the bus stop.
The bus announces its stop loudly at 6:30 am so you don’t need an alarm if that’s your daily wake up time, I guess that’s a perk?
The streets flood in the valley and the roads close. The garage also floods. That’s fun.
Oh and there’s a weird funk in the sinks that no one can seem to explain or fix. The old HOA mentioned it a few times but never really resolved the issue. Every once in awhile it smells like rotten eggs.
It’s a non- smoking building, but when the windows are closed I can smell smoke in my unit from one of my neighbors.
All in all I’d say, unless you’re looking for somewhere to leave your stuff and you’re not planning to be there often, don’t rent here.
There’s no real savings once you add in the electricity bills, moving fees, gym membership, and stolen property.
