Loved renting studio space last April for a series of photo sessions I held for my business Megan Cross Photography. My clients also just loved the space and setup too. Looking forward to booking again this year!

I was a tenant of a year and a half at the mill and it was a great space for myself and my dog. The apartments are all quite unique with a lot of character, one of the more admirable features being the large south facing window overlooking Paran Creek. If you have plants, they’ll love it here. The mill is in a great location in the village, nestled in between Lake Paran and the village square.

I lived at the Sage Street Mill for a year and a half and truly loved it. I had an incredible view and appreciated the ease of walking into North Bennington. The apartment was great and I loved the hard wood floors and the high ceilings. The people in the Mill were also very friendly. The outside is only a thin pane of glass away but I liked that feeling. I also liked the sense of history and that I was living in a space reclaimed.

I stayed as a resident at Sage Street Mill for one year and had an excellent experience. The space had a great open and rustic/renovated feel and I had no issues with the apartment/facilities during my stay. The natural setting was peaceful and a short walk to lake Peran which was fantastic. I found the owner and residents to be consistently respectful and welcoming to me. It was a great place to live as a remote worker and I’m very grateful for my time there and the impact it had on me

My wife and I lived in a loft at the Mill for almost 2 years before building a home. We had an excellent experience and enjoyed the high ceilings, enormous windows, and pet-friendly policy.

I offer this review as a warning to anyone considering renting space in this building.

My partner and I rented a first floor apartment at Sage Street Mill starting Dec. 1st, 2022. We paid First/Last/Security - equivalent to three months' rent.

- Upon moving in, I noticed that the hallway that led to our apartment smelled of sewage. Two weeks later, the apartment itself also began smelling like sewage. The smell only grew worse during the month of December.

- Upon moving in, the apartment was extremely dusty, and was completely covered in cobwebs. It also had lots of debris scattered around on the floors, as well as on the counters, on top of and behind the refrigerator, etc. The industrial pipes that cover the entire ceiling had a huge amount of dust caked onto them.

- The dust caused the air quality to be so poor that it was a health concern. Even upon cleaning the dust as best as I could, the dust continued to accumulate at a rapid pace.

- The debris that had been left all over the apartment also contained small bits of sharp, old, rusty metal. I got a huge gash on my finger while I was trying to clean up the debris.

- The stove only partially worked. And the oven and drawers below it were also completely full of disgusting debris.

- When I arrived on Dec. 1st to move in, the apartment was not ready to be lived in. In addition to the concerns listed above, the building maintenance crew was still spending 8 hours per day in our apartment scraping the apartment's three large, industrial windows - leaving lots of scraped paint and debris in the living area. They then repainted the windows. This continued through the 2nd week of December.

- One of the windows didn't even shut all the way, rendering the apartment extremely cold during the month of December. The digital thermostat would somehow reset itself every night, making it impossible to consistently keep the apartment at a reasonable temperature during the winter months.

- The gooey black paint that was used on the windows never actually dried properly, leaving us with large, heavy, sticky, industrial windows that couldn't even be propped open properly. These windows would be the only possible alternate exit in case of a fire, but they were so heavy that actually getting out of the apartment during a fire would not be particularly simple or easy.

- The apartment consisted of one room that was divided into three spaces using unfinished, untreated plywood slabs - bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen/living room area. The dividers did not go all the way to the ceiling, leaving no private space to live in until the building maintenance finished working on the windows.

- On Dec. 29, 2022 we informed the landlord (Patricia) of our intention to move out - citing our health concerns. We asked that our "last month's rent" be put toward January rent - and that we would finish moving out of the apartment by the end of January - giving a full month's notice regarding our moving out. We did not reside in the apartment during the month of January because of our health concerns.

- In February we received a letter from one of Patricia's staff members stating that not only was she going to withhold our entire security deposit, but that she is also demanding that we pay her an additional $1,263 - despite already having found a replacement tenant.
