Living at 555 O’Farrell is truly horrific. The building is infested with cockroaches that come up through the sinks and drains—there’s no escaping them. It’s like they own the place. The garbage area is even worse, swarming with rats that scurry around unchecked.

On top of the pest issues, the building is 100 years old, and the walls are paper-thin, so you can hear everything your neighbors do—and they hear you too.

SFRent deserves negative stars. Absolutely horrible nightmare of a living experience

The worst people I’ve ever rented from.
Their buildings are in terrible condition, all have the “landlords special” where everything is simply painted over, common areas are dirty, washer and dryers were old, and they offer no amenities.

Mine and several other tenants mail repeatedly got stolen from our common areas and mailboxes — nothing was done to fix or prevent it. The mailboxes were constantly pried open and left that way. My unit was blistering hot in the winter due to the furnaces not being able to turn off, even with several work orders requesting to do so (the furnace ended up LEAKING water later).

When I finally moved out of my unit, the building manager kept rescheduling and no-showing my inspection for two months.
Less than two weeks out from my move-out date, he finally shows up one night at 7:30pm to do the check-in. Guess what? His phone dies mid-way and asks to come back and finish it in 2 hours. When I complained to SFRent to schedule my move-out inspection with someone else due to lack of professionalism, they agreed to send someone else but failed to do so. Instead, the building manager continued to text and show up at my door.

After moving out, I’ve called three times so far about getting my security deposit back and no one at central office has picked up the phone. They will not give you your money back.

You’re better off paying an extra $100-200 and living in a luxury apartment.

Lori D. In leasing was amazing through our entire rental process. We were stressed looking for a reasonably priced place in the Bay and she made the application process seamless and quick. When we needed to relocate for work, she made the move-out and re-leasing process so much less stressful. Her and our awesome manager Guillermo worked nonstop to schedule tours and viewings to help us out and get our unit leased. Thanks, Guillermo and Lori! 😊

The clarigde is a great place to live it’s a family they have holiday celebrations they come for your knee. They always on time when you call Alex Vanessa, Mis Kim if I need something, they gonna get it done for me and they talk to me when I’m feeling down to talk to you when you’re feeling damn the claridge

I hade pest problems and it got fixed by manager Msg Kimberly and if and when I have an issue in my unit or in the building front desk Alex is also there to help and give out information. Also during the holidays Thanksgiving and Christmas the staff makes dinner for all the tenants to come and enjoy

While the apartments are generally "affordable" for the Bay Area the quality is below sub par. Lived in an apartment in Oakland for two years and constantly had problems with pests and water. Management would be quite unresponsive and at times it felt that unless I pointed to legal action they would take their time fixing issues. I will say I felt the community at my complex was quite strong which is nice. TLDR The pricing of most complexes are nice but the quality of said complexes are not great and management needs to be more responsive.

The new (to me) plumber on the SFRent maintenance, Jack, impressed me immensely with his cheerful and efficient diligence and professionalism. My bathroom and kitchen sink had two very clogged and rusted pipes (approx. 20+ years old) and he did a perfect job cleaning and replacing them. He willingly answered my questions about what might have caused the problem and what I could do regarding further maintenance and upkeep. Also, I greatly appreciated that he took the time to really clean up after he finished. Jack obviously takes great pride in his work, and his entire approach and demeanor makes me feel that the quality of his work is top-notch.
