Recently, my wife and I included The Duo in our investigation of apartments to be our home after 45 years of home ownership in University Place. We found SirRenahdi, the site manager, to be totally professional and helpful. She represented her apartments’ owners extremely well. We were in good hands.

Way overpriced! I lived there regrettably because of location. But the apartment itself is extremely cheap. Low-end construction and cheap appliances. Packages were always being stolen from the "secure" entry. There is no trash chute. The trash bins are about 100 yards away from the building, so people constantly leave trash in the hallways. There is a "no smoking" rule on property that is hard to enforce, so the hallways always smell like weed and cigarettes. (and trash) Also, property management is never available. Somehow always "at lunch" or at the "sister property". There are better managed and priced apartments right across the street.

This place is being ran by new management, and I am very impressed with the courtesy and professionalism of Janet - who genuinely greeted us like we were guests at her home.

She was quick, funny and polite in answering questions we had. She also was kind enough to let us know future projects happening in the apartment complex and showed us to a home that fits our budget.

The apartments are brand new and up to date! There is also an elevator that leads you to other floors (no more stairs for me). And the elevators are high ceilings so you can definitely fit large items if you are moving.

I would say the only downside is they are currently working on an effective system on mail. But Janet reassured that they will find a solution soon.

Very simple process, and I highly recommend this place to future residents. Thank you again Janet! It was a pleasure meeting you!

The Dou Apartments are really flexible and honest with you!

SirRenahdi gave me a call and went out of her way to schedule time for me and my Husband to tour that day of. We were greeted with kindness from the start and throughout the tour. SirRenahdi was really professional and gave us all the details of EVERYTHING all around. I'd say she answered majority of our questions we had listed for ourselves into being future Tenants. Not only that, SirRenahdi welcomed our daughter with snacks and stickers to keep her interested! PLUS, PLUS <3 Thank you SirRenahdi. Rating would be 10/10 from us! A game was strong! Schedule a tour with SirRenahdi, you won't regretted. JUST DO IT! As for the Apartment itself, it was really clean and from what I can tell, well organized. There was no trash to be seen in sight. There was no foul odor in the elevator or hallways. The tenants there were friendly as well! The apartment (2 bed, 2 bath) we toured in was well swept and the paint job was excellent. The walls aren't thin at all. The washer and dryers weren't outdated. WE LOVED IT! GOOD LUCK FUTURE TENANTS!

We have lived here almost two months now and love it. At first we were upset being prior to moving in, we had scheduled a walk through for a top floor apartment. We showed up and no one was there in office to tour. We rescheduled for the following week and were able to tour, but during that week, a new tenant had viewed the top floor apartment we wanted and signed. So, now we have arrogant upstairs neighbors who stomp and clearly don’t understand what quiet hours are nor what it means which we were trying to avoid and the main reason we moved. Since then, new management has taken over, and they have been honestly amazing. Within the first week, we met Janet & SirRenahdi who have honestly been the best. They respond quickly, always available as much as possible, very polite, respectful, and extremely professional. It makes us feel good about living here knowing those who work here show they care and do a great job at their work. Neighbors have been fine and they have quite hours from 10pm-8am which is great being I get up at 5:30am for work. I have lived at Green Leaf Pacifica (Tacoma), Trellis (Federal Way), The Meadows (Tacoma), and the staff here have honestly been the best I have experienced. Great job and respect to the owner(s) finding such quality employees during a time where customer service is now considered rare.

I've lived at The Duo since they opened last July 2023 and since the new management started, it has been amazing! The new management addressed a lot of the older concerns that are mentioned in the previous reviews. Additionally, paying rent has been much easier with the new app.

I also just wanted to give a shout out -- I had a maintenance request with SirRenahdi this morning which she scheduled right away and was quickly fulfilled by Ren, who did an efficient and great job to fix the issue within the same day!
