Scott Turnbull did not do the work he promised in a timely manner. He said the work would be done in September 2023. It is now 2024 August and the work is not complete and Scott claims it is my fault and that he is booked and won’t be completing the job. The job was a basement under a lifted house. The house lifters charged 20k and the excavator around 25k, there was a lot of digging and sand brought in. Turnbulls estimate was 32.5 for a poured foundation topped by four rows of laid block, for house support posts, concrete basement floor and replace chimney blocks as the chimney in the center of the house was cut off (by Scott himself) ( in case you don’t have the stomachs to read this entire review I paid him 29.5 in cash in December 2023.). The work was actually started late October, the excavator and house lifter proceeded quickly. Turnbull did not even begin the work until mid-November. He subcontracted the poured foundation. After that was complete it was weeks before Turnbull showed up to lay block on top of the poured wall. He and his brother (the entire “Company” laid some block in 33 degree weather. Whenever I raised concerns about the temperature Turnbull would threaten to walk off the job and demand full payment! I was a nervous wreck. Since I did not currently live on the property (no heat! Open basement! Disconnected septic!) I asked Scott to always call me and inform me of when the would be working so I could be on site. He NEVER informed me. In fact it seems like he went out of his way to make sure I was NOT there. The result of this was mistakes were not prevented. He put a window opening directly under the front door, he did not lay a footing for the chimney. He also never informed me that there was an entirely separate person’s responsibility to replace the support infrastructure which was currently a 100 year old tree. Turnbull acted like of course I should have known and been communicating with “your builder”. After all his rhapsodizing about what ha was going to do he passed it off as someone else’s job. The day the house lifters put the house down there was just some 2x6s set on top of the blocks as prep. Done by my “builder” some guy who said he was just doing Turnbull a favor. At this point when I questioned Turnbull why the house was still resting on the same 100 yr tree he said in a sickening tone “ hey, I’m just the concrete guy!” When he wanted to proceed with pouring the floor in December I was flabbergasted There were large pieces of lifting support lumber and four large 5x5 holes frozen in the ground! There were no footings for support posts. Two Temporary supports had been put under the tree by the house lifter people sitting on what looked to me like patio blocks. So in December I said to Turnbull let’s wait til spring to finish. I didn’t want block laid in below freezing temps and I did not want a floor poured as there was no way it would be a quality Floor. Of course Turnbull just threatened me again to stop work. Luckily at the time his “friend” who had laid down the 2x6 sill told him to wait until spring. I spent the entire winter losing sleep every night thinking my entire house caved in. Luckily it did not though many doors no longer closed and when I walked through the kitchen the lids on the pots on the stove rattled. Once it was spring I hurried to replace enough plumbing so I could stay in the house build basement steps, get the electrical hooked up, reconnect the pump and pour the needed footings myself. I didn’t want Turnbull to have any excuse not to finish the work. He never contacted me. When I contacted him in July he refused to complete the work claiming it was all my fault for delaying things. He was booked through the year and he had no time to complete the work. By the way, Turnbull has a superficial charm about his demeanor and you might get the impression he is a good guy. I should have known not to trust him when he included a profession of his Christian faith in his sales pitch. Not that I am against Faith. Largepile of forms and rubish
