I typically avoid negative reviews, but I’ll make an exception for Volta. from the moment we signed our lease, Volta was a constant source of frustration and disappointment. The management team is, without a doubt, the most incompetent and deceptive I've ever encountered.
Here are some highlights:
* Promises Broken: We were lured in by promises of "luxury living" and "top-notch amenities." However, broken appliances took weeks (if not months) to repair, the pool was constantly plagued by overcrowding and noise, and fitness center was never clean.
* Unsolved Issues: The noise levels were unbearable. Thin walls meant we were subjected to our neighbors' every argument, late-night parties, and Pine Ave crime. Maintenance requests were routinely ignored, leaving us to deal with issues like a broken oven and garage door for extended periods of time.
* Lack of Communication: Good luck trying to get a straight answer from the management. Phone calls went unanswered, emails were ignored, and in-person interactions were often met with indifference or even hostility.
Avoid Volta at all costs. There are better options in Long Beach.

I'd like to say, from the moment my girlfriend and I inquired about living here till now our experience has been great. Sonia Stacy and Constance have all been great with any issues we've come across. Stacey even came up and personally fixed a maintenance issue. The Volta staff has been great in my opinion, would definitely recommend a family member or friend to live here. Especially if I know they have animals, the ladies are always very happy to see not only my dog but others aswell. (They got the snack hook ups)

This review is not intended to tell you if you should or should not live at Volta. But, please before you commit to a lease, read this review!
I lived at Volta for one year. During my time living there, many things have occurred. The building is not really safe! Vehicles are constantly getting broken into. If you order something on Amazon, you better have it shipped to one of the Hub lockers in the neighborhood (Rite Aid or Ross) since packages get stolen all the time.
When I finally moved out of this place, I received a deposit disposition letter. According to the letter, I did not clean my apartment and Volta had deducted $200 off my deposit for the cleaning fee. As you can see by looking at the photos, the apartment was left in a CLEAN CONDITION. When I contacted the leasing office and inquired about the $200 cleaning fee, I was told that the apartment, "was professionally cleaned and disinfected per company protocols". I also asked to see any photos that show that my apartment was left in a dirty condition. And of course the building management was not able to provide me with any photos.
Take a look at the photos of my unit which were taken on the day when I turned my keys in.

I had the pleasure of working with Sonia to coordinate my move from out of town, and I couldn’t be more impressed with her professionalism, superb communication, and accommodating spirit. Sonia is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and always ready to assist with any questions or concerns. She made the entire moving process seamless and stress-free.
Since moving in, Sonia has continued to brighten my days with her infectious laughter and genuine interest in my well-being. She’s also become quite fond of my dog—whenever I bring him in from a walk, she’s there with a treat and a warm greeting.
If you’re looking for a great place to live in Long Beach, I highly recommend Volta on Pine. And if you get the chance to work with Sonia, you're in excellent hands!!

UPDATE: Still, as of March 2025, this building is STILL a huge mess.
5 stolen packages within a single week. Still no access to the second elevator in Building B, WITHOUT explanation. Every floor in Building B has pee-stained, dusty plastic liner taped to the carpet floor for over a year now. Underpaid staff that frankly, does not care anymore - and how can we expect them to This building is in shambles. And they NEVER answer their e-mails. We're currently building a case to sue as the lack of repairs is becoming a danger to multiple residents' health and wellbeing, and will be demanding we be allowed to break our lease. THAT'S how bad things have become. DO NOT MOVE HERE!
From January:
Our building was previously owned by AMC Rentals and just recently transferred to Greystar - and while I HOPE this means improvements for the building, right now I'm still holding my breath as a lot of our building issues remain constant and horrific. At least one of the two Building B elevators is always routinely out of service; our building had a gas leak for about two weeks in which tons of residents were unable to use their ovens, dryers, etc. WITHOUT compensation from the building management. And without explanation, the building's fire alarms go off an INSANE amount!! I've gotten an e-mail maybe twice to let me know it was a legitimate event, but there's been days where right at 9 am - boom! On and off ringing for an hour with no explanation from management at ALL as to why our building is having issues! I cannot wait to leave, and I know many of the residents in the building are counting the days until their lease ends, too.

Garage gates would break and remain open for anyone to come in— multiple car break-in’s, frequent stolen packages, prolonged elevator breakdowns, poop and pee in the hallways and gym, tv’s and equipment in the gym often did not work or malfunctioned, trash cans literally overflowing throughout the week and every weekend, insufficient soundproofing (always heard the next door neighbors and the neighbors above us walking), it’s also located by that rite-aid parking lot where people would meet up at night and play loud music or there would be people yelling during the night in the alley, witnessed a car get stolen right next to the apartments, because it’s next to rite-aid and other apartments, if you have the windows open for airflow you will for sure be woken up every morning before 6am due to the garbage trucks or delivery trucks, and after management changed to Advanced Management Company the front desk never answered the phones and management never responded to our emails. Our apartment was not ready by move-in, told us our utilities wouldn’t be more than $60, but we were always charged $100-200, they have a poor system for finding out how many parking spots they have available and do not have a list of which tenant is in which spot. We got maybe $300 back from our deposit even tho we never got the pre-move out inspection (even tho we repeatedly asked for one) and after the fact that lovely maintenance guy came and patched up all of our holes from hanging things for free and said that there wasn’t anything in the apartment that was above normal wear and tear. They broke the contract multiple times like not sending us an itemized bill of what was taken out of our deposit, not sending the check until 1.5 month later, and lied on the check dating it weeks before we actually got it. Unhelpful and uncaring staff office staff— only nice when they’re trying to get you to become a tenant. Afterwards, they’ll become unresponsive, cold, and gave out false emails. The 1 star is for the cleaning and maintenance people. But at least this taught us to do our due diligence before considering a place to rent.

I love this place! Volta! Experience here is great! With great views from my balcony. I get to see the sunrise and the sunset. Sarah, Constance, Sonia! Front office is super helpful, welcoming and great energy. I feel like I live in a resort with all the amenities. Super happy living here.

Today we had an amazing tour led by Sarah who was not only kind but very patient. She was very helpful and answered all our questions and concerns that we had. We decided to submit our application right after the tour and cannot be any more excited to be part of an amazing property with an amazing staff. Thank you again to Sarah for taking us on our tour!!!!!
