Had a wonderful family vacation. The property is very well maintained. Cell phones do not work so the kids actually paid attention to us. :). It is dog friendly, kid friendly and great fun. We did a lot of cooking, time at the lake and games. Would recommend to outdoorsy people who like a roof and a shower. (I am Kate's cousin.)

Camp Watanda has been a great place for our family for years! They have a modest cabin that is perfect for a small family, and a HUGE lodge ready for groups and gatherings. They are dog friendly, and the camp has it's own private beach on lake Vera. You can make use of the canoes and kayaks on the sandy beach, or just relax and BBQ and watch the wildlife. Good swimming in the lake, and if you are respectful you can find a few berry patches along the shore accessible by canoe only. Check out the website, make reservations ahead of time to avoid issues. You will see deer, many variety of birds, big noisy toads and dragonflies along the water's edge. At dusk, you can see the bats come out to feast on all the insects. . . Friends stayed 2 nights in the cabin so we got to use the boats for a couple of hours. They were a bit decrepit but what fun! Not complaining, the price (none) was right. The cabin very sweet and clean. Our friends loved it.
