Dear prospective residents of this location. I write this review to encourage you to reconsider leasing here or at least sign with full knowledge of how bad it is here.

Move-in was a nightmare and I should have known it wouldn’t get better. The first time I arrived to take possession of the apartment it was in total shambles beyond the state it was during my first visit. It was to the point that the Property Manager opened the door and would not even let me walk in. The second time was better, but the guest bathroom was a mess with a non-working toilet and shower. Due to movers being schedule, I took it with the understanding things would be fixed in a week. Some things never got fixed and I gave up on Maintenance.

Speaking of maintenance they have continued on a path of bad to worst. While some of the workers are good, they have scheduling and site leadership problems. Work orders are often ignored and closed without any work being done or only partial work being done. One item I had to put in 3 times and took 7 months to get done when my toilet was unstable. It gets tiring to have to escalate to get things addressed. The latest issue was a problem they caused. It took 5 weeks to fix it with complaining every few days. This was a larger burden on me to make sure work got done. To this day (4 weeks later) there is a hole in the hallway into my shower. This is both a safety and fire concern as the envelope of my home is not fire-safe.

Unsafe conditions are the norm here. Packages and mail being stolen including the maintenance room and office being broken into. Tenants run unsafe electrical cords to hallway plugs. Previous resident pictures were posted with a request to call the police. Mailboxes are inferior not USPS safe and often open and mail being stolen. Packages are taken from your door and the lobby. The lack of personal security is high.

In general, the building has many unsanitary situations. Trash is often overflowing drawing rats and just being gross. Dog crap (I hope) in the hallway. The elevator frequently has fluid on the floor (urine, juice, water, sticky stuff, etc). Trash abounds being left wherever the tenants just throw it.

When evaluating the information I have shared please look at the pictures they share of the location on websites. You will notice there is no building in front of the location in the pictures they use (look out the windows). All of the pictures were taken before a fire caused the building to be condemned. Speaking of, for more information search for ‘Westwood West Seattle Fire Barton” and be sure to read the follow-up articles. While not the current owners, it doesn’t sound like an improvement.

I am often concerned that we will have another fire or in some way, the building will be condemned again. The lack of attention or care for this location is at a level not matching the rents they charge. The location is good. This location can be a good place would be there, I just don’t feel under the current management that will ever happen.

Poorly managed property...
My understanding for 2023 is they have had 5+ different on-site managers, who continue to blame lack of improvements on whomever they are replacing.

I don't think this is even up to FIRE CODE due to their lack of accessibility and NO EMERGENCY FIRE DEPARTMENT KEY for the elevator. No evacuation map.

Poorly run building...

Update 2024 - many aspects of the building continue to fall apart.....

The trash situation continues to overflow a day after it's empty.......

And a tenant? or just a random dude seems to run his own car repair service out of the parking lot here. He has a new vehicle each week parked illegally next to the dumpster and oil leaking, replaced, changing tires and other car components. The car being serviced is basically triple parked next to his truck and second car, blue mustang that's not even in a real spot.

What a mess of a building.......

I hope they improve it soon. Seems like management just needs to be present or care a little bit.

My review I’m sharing today is based on my interaction with management. Amber has been wonderful to me. Any complaint or concern she’s handled right away even if I text her in the middle of the night she’s responding immediately. Amber happens to be one of the best apartment managers I’ve ever had she made my move-in process effortless And every concern I’ve addressed with her. She has made it right moving into an apartment is always the smoothest process, but Amber has done an amazing job and making me feel comfortable in my new home

I moved here in June and management was very accommodating with my moving truck and getting situated in my apartment. When I needed help from maintenance or just had a random question they were quick to respond and scheduled any work that had to be done. Communication is key and I appreciate that management sees that too. Thanks Amber!
